OK... I finished making the head today... and the haft is also made but the hickory is un-finished at this point...

These are older pictures to remind folks, and enlighten those newer to the forum...

It was a lot more difficult than a full-sized hawk!!! Especially shaping the head, grinding the edge on it, and fitting the haft without going to far and having a loose 'head to haft' fit. I was sanding the haft for final fit with 600 grit paper!!! Not sure I would want to try it again... well, maybe one more time with something different???

BTW, the head is not exact in 2 areas (the underside of the 'blade'), but at least it is off in that there is EXCESS metal in those 2 areas... I will probably 'tweak' it a bit more...
