Keys
Wallet
Phone
Southard
Streamlight Stylus Pro
Lighter
Pen

...just remember, none are 'necessary', nearly everything in our lives are just luxuries.

Here is my minimalist setup.
Keys
Small pocket knife(I carry a Southard)
a SAK
EagleTac D25A Clicky(just about every corner store carries a AA battery)
And my Smartphone with a case that had a built in wallet.

It holds 3 cards. My debit, Driver's License, and Health card.

My EDC isn't as minimal as the others listed but this is MY minimum stuff that I cant go without, without feeling naked
Small fixed blade with some cord on the sheath
Flashlight w/strobe
Rag of some kind
Lighter
Wallet
Keys on a lanyard
Phone
Pen styled screwdriver with all the different tips

Mine is not minimal;
-Glock 27 Gen 4, 40s&w
-Spyderco Paramilitary 2
-Olight i3s EOS. (love the reversible clip so I can attach to the brim of my hat)
-Samsung Galaxy s5 waterproof w 2nd backup battery
-Costa Del Mar 580G Fantail or Maui Jim Peahi (depending on light conditions)
-wallet
-keys
-leatherman squirt
-watch

For minimal I recommend.
-Sig P238 .380 (but I hate .380 so really P938 is the lowest I would go. 9mm)
-Benchmade mini grip
-leatherman squirt.
-Phone with good battery and flashlight built in.
-Polycarbon polarized sunglasses (lighter than glass)
-wallet, keys, etc..

I don't do minimalist carry except sometimes at home- I get home after work, change into shorts and t-shirt to wear around the house, and my pockets are usually empty. I am thinking about carrying a Skeletool around the house though.

When I am out of the house I usually carry too much stuff- keys, wristwatch, smartphone, wallet, reading glasses, a couple of ink pens, flashlight, folding knife.

When for some reason I need to keep my EDC down to a minimum I just carry a little flashlight on my keys (a Fenix E01 or E05) and a SAK or multitool (the blades on those are enough to get by, especially the 154CM or S30V blades on some Leatherman tools). In addition, of course, to things like my wallet, keys and mobile phone.

When in dress clothes and pocket clips and belt sheaths are a no go I often get by with a Victorinox Tinker and a Maglite Solitaire LED.

Keychain with a classic SD, Fenix E05, Victorinox Huntsman, and a Zero Tolerance 0560 if I'm not at school:)

Sanrenmu 605 pocket knife
EagleTac D25A flashlight

As light and basic as it gets.

You're recommending a $50 flashlight and then a $8 knife? I think you may be on the wrong forum my friend...;):p

My most recent EagleTac D25A was more than $50
and my latest batch of Sanrenmu 605s -- I use them as gifts -- were less than $8 apiece. :)

I don't carry anything but phone, wallet, keys, and mid size or small folder. I'm rarely that far from my car which has more goodies... Machete, leather man, rope, first aid kit, etc. Carrying everything on your person just gets annoying.

This website is a good resource : http://edcforums.com/

I agree with this suggestion. Definitely check out that forum for some ideas. Lots of good stuff in there!!!

And of course, keep in mind that there is no ONE perfect EDC. It's really subjective to the individual doing the carrying as to what's a "necessity" or how to define "minimalist." :)

If you live in post-apocalyptic DC where you're battling terrorist zombies like @Quiet, then a Smatchet and sawed-off shotgun could become necessities. If you live on a sailboat, you might want a pocketknife with a marlinspike and a lanyard. You defuse bombs for a living? Well, then your flashlight better render color accurately ("hmmm…is this the blue or the red wire…everything looks green with this light. Oh well, here goes…")

If you can give us a little more background as to your environment, what you'll be using these items for, whether you'll carry in a backpack/briefcase/satchel, or pocket, on a belt; will your car be near by most of your time out amd about, etc. etc., we'll do our best to give you ideas that we think could work for you and your unique situation.

Hopefully the EDC Forums and this thread will give you some good ideas, so you can find what works for you. Good luck @Bulldog357 !
