Just attatched a small lanyard of blaze orange paracord to my Vic rucksack...It's attatched to the knife via a second small keychain loop (so it it easily removed) when doing detailed whittling or using a screwdriver function a lanyard can get in the way...On the other end is yet another small keychain loop which I will attatch some basic gear I was thinking a bsa hotspark, a spycapsule of dry tinder, a small led an a whistle I don't want it to be too bulky but would consider adding or removing gear...The lanyard is long enough that while the knife rides in its pouch the gear can be tucked into a pocket, so it doesn't bounce around..All My gear is wearing a little bit of orange now so it is easier to spot if I should put it down...

Knife, fire, signaling, looks like you got it covered.
I carry a bunch of stuff on my keychain, I want to add a ferro rod to it next, I have an led, a sak classic, sliver gripper tweezers and a fob, a whistle may be added as well.
The sak cadet is a very nice small sak, it may replace the classic as a more substantial blade someday.

Here's what I did for an EDC. The BSA Hotspark is attached to the Vic SAK, Tinder, sewing/fishing kit, compass and a 10ft. wrap of duct tape are included in/on the match safe. I added the G2 pen and they all live in a BSA compass pouch that I wear on my belt. In my right front pocket is a Gerber Clutch multitool and an Inova mini LED light, both attached to a key ring and in my hip pocket I carry a large bandana. For a PSK, I added an Adventure Medical Pocket Survival Kit and an AM Pocket Medic.
