I just found out the blade length law is 3in. That really sucks because most blades go a little over that. I'm used to the 5.5in Texas law so I've never worried about it...but now I am.

Worse, I'm living in St. Paul...so that's means the rules are tighter and so are the cops, and the crime...so what may not look bad in Pflugerville, TX might looks really bad in st.paul you know?

I was woundering, what do you Minnesotans EDC? Especially ones living in Minniapolis and St. paul?

I've made a list that I'm still adding on too of knives that are legal since most my blades are illegal to carry, I want to get a new one.

My list includes so far (just a few)..

Spyderco Delica
Spyderco UK penknife, and the urbans
Spyderco Mini persian
Almar Talon Hawk
Kershaw leek, zing..

If you have any Ideas let me know.

So my Salt I, minigrip and Paramilitary are okay, right? Guess my Osborne 940 is out of the question. I live in the Twin Cities as well.

That sucks! I'm from St.Paul too and wasn't aware of that. I was wondering what was legal too but I thought 4" was ok. Good thing cause I was about to spend a whole lotta money on a knife I can't even carry.

Yeah really blows because I want an endura, and alot of other classic knife company designs but I can't legally carry it.

I got my undergraduate degree in Saint Paul and edc’ed a spyderco Delica.

How come the law is never clear and so hard to find? Is there a cop in here to verify or at least tell us if they ever caught any of us with so many inches of blade what they would do.

i was in MN for awhile. carried any knife i damn well choose to! their laws are theirs, not mine:)

Find a cop and tell that to him. Let me know how it works out for ya.

Its never a good idea to knowingly break carry laws. Don’t get me wrong I live in South Dakota so I can carry whatever I please. But the last thing you want is a concealed weapon violation on your record.

this is also new info to me....i live in west minneapolis, and go to school in st.cloud,MN....

I've personally asked multiple cops what exactly the legal length is to conceal and carry a knife.....and none of them could give me an answer! most cops dont even know in my experience.....but they did tell me (after I showed them my knife) that whatever you're carrying is usually just fine....as long as its not some pocket sword or a switchblade, it doesnt matter to them until it ends up stuck inside someone!

I carry a gerber harsey air ranger, or a large griptilian in blaze orange....police officers have looked at both when i ask this question (or they had a different reason to talk to me haha) and have never had a problem with either.....

in other words....ive never been able to find a straight answer to what the legal length is....just use common sense....

unless you plan on using it for self defense, then it shouldnt be a big deal....hope that helps....

oh, and i suggest a gerber harsey air ranger.....they look great, have a 3" blade, and are nice and thin in the pocket!

the problem is that people don't stand up for their rights. could care less for their laws, rules, or regulations. i have lived my live by that philosophy! their rules are theirs not mine. period!!

Wait until your arrested for some stupid law, then you can explain to the officers about your personal sovereinty.

just simply don't pay their stupid fines. it's all a scam! unconstituinal laws are worthless intimidation tactics to suck money from you . live free or die!!
