  • Today marks the 24th anniversary of 9/11. I pray that this nation does not forget the loss of lives from this horrible event. Yesterday conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was murdered, and I worry about what is to come. Please love one another and your family in these trying times - Spark

MIRABILE / LONG DRAGONFLY CUTTER (TONBOKIRI)

Such a cool project. Love David’s interpretation of such an iconic tool. Can’t wait to see the fancy one!

Some updates on the fancy version that David is doing for Blade

Starting to polish the blade and bring the Hamon out

Coming along but all David’s blades seem a tad Blood thirsty :)

This version will have a Habaki

I’m jealous

Starting to fit the Habaki

Once fitted he tog welds the Habaki making it a solid piece

More to come as we get closer to Blade

That’s going to be sensational... :)

Damn near cut the end of that pinky plump off!

there must be something in the water up in Alaska- something good

Badass!!!! Is the wrap carbon fiber too? I remember that Mr. Mirabile is fond of that stuff.

You have the nicest toys. Great videos too.
Curiously, what steels were used on either?
The first has a very interesting has a very interesting hamon. The fancier one's hamon looks to be more classical and more defined.
Beautiful collection of blades you have there

Thank you....mine the first one was made from a 100-year-old Axle David dug out of a mine in Alaska so mystery steel :) the next is W-2 and the difference between the two temper lines is that the first one is done by multiple heat cycles the second is done the more traditional classic way of using clay

Both differentially hardened just a different look
