Does anyone know why the green mircarta scales on the CQC6 turns kind of beige and smooth after a while. The only explanation I can come up with is that the sweat from your hands darkens the green? I though mircarta was tough and not affected by things such as sweat.
Has anyone else experienced this.

I have green micarta on my CQC5 and my Bodyguard. They have both darkened with time. I would think its due to moisture and oils from my hands. I prefer the feel of micarta over G-10, but the G-10 seems to hold up better. Typical high tech man made stuff.

The grain structure of the micarta seems to change. I can see more of ths canvas showing through on my older six compared to my newer one.

So you have one of those elusive CQC5's.How do you like it? I don't carry my CQC6 on a daily basis. It's knid of too heavy to be clipped to dress pants. I'm assuming the 5 would be perfect although I've only seen it once. Please let me know if you ever want to depart with it. Thanks.

I usually carry a CQC8, and it is my favorite of my customs (its one of the later ones, so I don't mind daily carry with it). I do like the CQC5, its a little small, but thats what makes it a pretty good travel blade. I've used it on executive protection details, and flown with it. For this role its great-cute but useable. I usually carry it with the bodyuard, small, but fast and low profile in a fixed blade. Its kind of funny, I turned down a CQC5 several years ago because "I wasn't spending $500 on a folder", boy was I an idiot. It ended up going to Les Robertson instead.

That was probably the CQC5 that Les had at the NY knife show. I passed it up like a dummy. I've been regreting it ever since!
