In some form, yes, but not in any mystical way. It just makes you feel like you "know" the blade that much better, and have had a chance to put your own modifications on it, making it feel as if it is more "yours".

Exactly. Kinda why I like washing my car, or working on it myself instead of paying someone else to do so.
 
With my BK2 I stripped and patina-ed to the bevels and left the flats to their own devices. I really like the look of the two tone finish, but you did your BK2 much better than I did.
