Mirror polishes with scratch marks

Overall, I believe I’ve fallen in love with my first custom, but it does have a mirror polished blade. I do plan on using it, not abusing it so I accept that there will be scratch marks on it. I would love to see anybody’s experience with having scratches or scuffs all over their fancy mirror polish to see if my stomach can handle it.

Knife in question is Protech Cambria 2 with the Irie hand ground blade.
 
Its a personal thing as it has no impact on how the knife works. That said I do not like scratches on my expensive knives.
 
I have a mirror polished blade that I use. Its gonna get scratched, but after the first few scratches you'll be fine. My solution was to buy two. One for looking and the other for using.

The one issue I have with mirror polished blades is that tape residue gets stuck to it much easier and it's a pain to remove without Goo-Gone or something. That said, they do cut nicely since the polished surface has less friction against the media you're cutting, as opposed to a stonewashed finish.
 
You just have to re-polish that baby when the time comes. Or send it to knife modders. Either way, you can cut with no fear.

Here's a piece of scratched up D2 that I polished by hand just for the experience. It was a pain but nothing too crazy.

Just keep those little alcohol wipes.individually wrapped in A few spots and.good.to go....Takes most tape schmegma right off.....😉

I don’t either but I’ve made strides to get over it because it’s one of those things that you simply have to get over if you want to use your knives. There’s no way around it unless you’re a collector of safe queens and all you’ll ever do is take them out occasionally to look at - which is also fine.

Nothing wrong with that either if that’s your thing. I still like to keep them as pristine as possible for as long as possible and it drives me nuts when I put the first scratch on them as I recently did with one. It sucks being this way but I have to live with myself. . . 😆
 
From my experience, get a good quality deer skin chamois for wipe-downs. They seem to work best at removing scuffs and residue from mirror polishes, even when dry!
Just my experience.. (I think there’s a reason Rockstead ships their knives with one)
