Hello I recently found a bunch of misery whipsaws at my local scrap yard and I would like to make knives out of them what would be the best way to go about this.
In all honestly, while they could possibly make a functioning knife, making one from known steel is barely more expensive, much easier and will end up much more functional as the heat treat is very precise.
They will bring far more as decorative items than knife blades. I would get some known steel ( 1084 is great) and start with that.
If you decide to use the old saws, send a 2X2" piece out for testing so you know what metal you have.
