Hey there, I've just received MY FIRST Bugout 535GRY-1 (from a well-respected shop in France), but something looks very weird. The blade marking says CPM-M4 instead of S30V.
Even the code on the labels sounds strange!
I've spent the afternoon watching at fakes on YT and the one I got looks legit TO ME!
What you guys think? What do I have in my hands? Is it fake? Should I send it back?
Thanks in advance, Cheers

It looks legit to me but that is strange. The "ooo" manufacturing code is strange too. Smokey Mountain Knifeworks has an exclusive Bugout with a gray M4 blade. I wonder if one got mixed in with the S30V blades.

Thanks, that's quite strange indeed. I've wrote to Benchmade itself. I guess they're looking at those photos too.
Cheers

If it's legit you got a free upgrade of sorts, since M4 typically costs a bit more from Benchmade. It's a great steel too.

Those blade pics look very legit too, clearly showing the trouble taken to keep cerakote clear from contact areas. I think you got a genuine article.

Thanks for you opinion!
I will post here some answers I got from Benchamde in these days!
Cheers

Looks legit to me. It should have a PVD Gray coated S30V blade but this one has the Cerakote Gray M4 blade. Something got mixed up there.

Thanks, that's what I thought when I touched it! It got a bit of a texture...
Cheers!

As mentioned above it looks like a SMKW Bugout.
Thanks very much.
I'm looking forward to posting some comments I got from Felicia C. (Consumer Specialist at Benchamde) in these days.
I guess I have to ask her for permission, but I can say they've confirmed it's a genuine Bugout and admitted a mistake from their side.
They've suggested me to send it back and have it replaced with a proper model.

Knowing it was genuine, I've decided to not take advantage of their offer and invalidate the warranty by disassembling the knife, and send them some photos of the blade itself (those I posted here) to pinpoint the issue (mismarked s30v OR wrong M4 blade).
Still no answers about the serial-number (000) though.

Thank you all
Cheers!

Yes. I have the custom shop M4 and the coating is smooth. The texture on this is the SMKW exclusive version.
Have a CF/20CV from the custom shop, getting ready to order either an M4 blade with the stock scales and picking up some OD Green AWT scales or the S90V and AWT Sniper Grey scales, like both and haven't decided yet. Do you have any pics of your blade I'm assuming it's the same color texture as the M4 bailout?

Love the AWT scales, but this time I'll go with flytanium on this one.
Cheers
