Mispelled words in post thread

English can be difficult to spell, like French, it retains an older form of many words. Combine that with sounds not common in other languages, and you will find almost guaranteed mistakes. Two I see a lot around here are sheat for sheath -- the th sound is rare elsewhere. Another is lenght for length -- the th again, confused with the often silent gh.

I understand the temptation to skip capitalization and to abbreviate as in texting, especially with the increasing use of smartphones. But why would someone spell words in full except for u for you? "Artificial intelligence is no match for natural stupidity."

I like GARD for guard...lol

Did someone mention L33+sp3@k???

when people think 154cm is the length of the blade and not the steel. :D

Ooooh! That would be a long blade. I figure it to be a skosh* over 5 feet.

* It could be a tad longer or maybe 10 or 20 RCHs.

Then plainly state: If these improvements cannot be done then we will not attend The Blade Show next year. This needs to be in bold letters on the petition and you must have the “Cahoonas” to stand behind your decision when you sign that petition.

Hazards of using words from another language when you don't know the language.

Kahuna came from Hawaiian, for a shaman or leader, what we could call a big shot. Cojones is Spanish for testicles -- balls. It comes directly from old Latin coliones. The j in cojones is pronounced close to our h, and the e is mot silent.

Lots of room for confusion, using words you don't know.

I cringe every time I see "yella" or "yeller".

Blame Walt Disney for that one.

I hate it when people misspell "STEALTH"

It's spelled that way because years ago when I first got an AOL account "Stealth" was already taken. I dropped the a and I've been using that handle ever since.
That's OK. My name really isn't Codger_64 either. :)
