Yesterday was a long day. I teach a night class on Thursdays after work. I gave a test, went back to my office, graded, and entered them. I headed home to find that my wife and kids were still at an athletic banquet at 8:45 p.m. and that my oldest had a ton of homework (she really struggles in history and I have to help her), my youngest has a edible project to get done, and my wife has to stay after the banquet for a booster club meeting.
So, I pick up my kids and we head home to get homework knocked out and all is well. I wake up this morning and get ready for work. I'm a creature of habit and generally put my EDC stuff in one of two places. Everything is there but the Chief. I go to my other spot and it's not there either. I check my pants from yesterday and it's not there either. I ask my wife and kids "have you seen my knife?" None of them had. I felt the biggest pain in my stomach. Where could it have been? Did it slip out of my pocket in class or in my car? I go to check the car and there it is. I forgot I used it to open a box and sat it in my cupholder when I was done.
The thing I'm terrified of and read on this site from time to time almost was a reality this morning. It's funny what a long day will do to you.
