I know that spyderco has an excellent reputation for customer service, but I'm not sure if this would actually be something covered by the warranty, and it's an issue I've never heard of before, so I thought I'd report it.

recently the "bug" at the base of the handle on my Centofante III fell off. It was in a front pocket of a backpack, along with the charger cord from a cell phone and an ipod. Normally I would just glue it back on myself but I can't find it at all. It also seems very unusual for it to come off, because it didn't seem loose ahead of time, and it's inset.

anyway I read the spyderco warranty, and I'm not sure if this would be considered a materials or manufacturing defect, so I'm not sure if it would be worth sending in.

Sounds like a warranty issue to me. Especially since you can't find the bug and just fix it yourself. Whether it's "worth sending in" is up to you, I know it would "bug" me every time I saw the empty recess in the handle.
