I posted a custom fixed blade for sale in both the custom knives & fixed blades exchange. Apparently this is not allowed and a mod merged my threads into one. Okay, that's fine. However, they also decided to add the tag "fugly and overpriced" to my sale post. What the fuck is this? I've paid for a Gold membership to sell/trade blades here and this is how mods show their appreciation for joining this community? Keep your unsolicited opinion to yourself. If you don't like it, don't buy it - it's that simple. This is ignorant and childish.

Anyone can add tags to threads so it was more than likely some other random user rather than a mod.

Click the report button to ask a mod to remove them.

As the mod who merged your thread, that tag was not added by the moderators in any way, nor should it have been added to your thread at all. It seems to have been removed already.

Please refrain from using that language in Tech Support, it is only allowed in Whine & Cheese.

I see people doing this a lot and I'm curious...did you bother reading the Exchange rules before making your first sales post?

And yeah, most likely a member tag...not a mod.

I thought only the topic creator could add tags. However, you said to report the tag and ask for removal. Is this necessary to remove other user's tags on your post? I was able to edit the post and remove the tag myself.

If you can remove the tags that other people make on your threads then there is no reason to report it.

I didn't know that you could edit them out yourself.

Not my first sale post, though it is my first sale post where the blade applied to multiple exchanges. I had read the rules when I first joined, but I didn't revisit them in regards to this matter. However, the issue isn't that my thread was merged. I thought the mod who merged them added that tag, as I was under the impression only a TC could tag their own thread. I was mistaken. Still, childish none the less.

Apologies for assuming you were the one responsible. I was unaware anyone could tag a thread.

Apparently not since he's asking for an additional $75 to do PP G&S... Not my circus, not my monkeys, but $75??

The Exchange rules have been updated/modified to the following:

SECTION 2 - Rules/Procedures for Selling, Buying, Trading, & Offering Services:

In plain English, there will be no more "net to me" sales or add 3.5%, 4%, or 30% PayPal fees ... sellers need to do their own math and list a TOTAL selling price shipped.

The price is set by the seller, there is no rule dictating that the seller has to do specific maths or set prices in a specific way. He listed the total price for buying the knife with PayPal G&S, this is within forum rules.

That is a flawed system for users to be able to edit in tags in others posts. Despite how you feel it is the OPs post and should remain unaltered by others, unless a violation of the rules occurs, IMHO.

You would have to talk to the folks who wrote the XenForo software that BF runs on about that. It's a commercial package and the basic "features" cannot be changed.

Just an FYI, you’ll see this from time to time in sales threads where more malicious members will add tags to posts to try and be funny or passively complain about pricing. Best to just ignore it, or ask mod to remove.

The OP was able to remove the tags himself.

A bit of advice. if I may, take it or leave it.

While your threads should not have had the tags edited by others, you will attract less negative attention by reading and following the rules (do not list in multiple sections and make sure to wait the proper amount of days to relist). Also, while it is your prerogative to price your items how you feel, the difference between your F&F and G&S prices will make people look at your ad cross-eyed. Not only will addressing these things help you sell your items better IMO, it will make you less of a target for the more "malicious" members.

He initially accused a Mod of adding the tags. Even after realizing that he was wrong in that assumption, he still hasn't bothered to edit the title of the thread.
He figured out how to remove the tags himself, perhaps he hasn't figured out how to edit the title himself? I find that hard to believe but benefit of the doubt and what not....

Done. If I had known any user could add tags to my posts - I would have never bothered with this thread. I'm not going to whine over trolls being trolls. However, since I thought only mods or TC's were capable of that - and therefore assumed it was the mod who did it - I thought it should be addressed. Apologies for the confusion.

In regards to the G&S pricing - I am new to PayPal and I recalled them taking quite a bit off of a knife payment I had made through G&S. I see now that was because the payment amount was much higher. In any case, I didn't purposely price gouge G&S to drive FF - but judging from all of the comments it probably looks that way. Future G&S pricing will be more reasonable - and I'll be adjusting the pricing on this particular knife as well. Thanks for the advice.
