Ok, this is a hypothetical question that I'm asking for um,........a friend. :D

What would happen if a person, not me you understand, was to accidentally mix acetone and denatured alcohol while making their dry ice slurry for sub zero quenches?

Will the mixture of those two chemicals kill all life within a half mile radius?

Will the contamination of either of those chemicals have detrimental effects on the performance of the sub zero quench?

Shouldn't be a problem as far as a reaction.
You can check your temperature, but I think it will be about the same.

It's my understanding that that acetone is part of the distillate when making ethanol. I don't think it should hurt to put them back together. I guess you are testing that. If we don't hear back from you we won't try it

Acetone is often used to denature alcohol, so likely it was already mixed.

Only one way to really find out. Take a pull off the bottle and report back with what kind of colors you’d see.

Or what colors you smell. Smells like purple = Ok. Smells like burnt toast = seek medical attention.

Its the old talk aboit soviet health amd saftey standards.

"I worked with liquid mercury for years and i don't have any brain damagamagamagamag"

But honestly, its two polar solvents. Not really a danger.

The danger generally comes when mixing stuff like an oxidizer and an acid, or an oxidizer and base, or sometimes a very strong acid and a solvent.

Do knife maker should ever really use nitric acid, but sulfuric acid can be helpful. Mixed with H2O2 and you habe the stuff of nightmares.

Bleach is an oxidizers, amd you know if its mixed with ammonia cleaner you get a cloud of chlorine amd chloramine which are both banned by the Geneva convention

Think that you won't have problems with result, but it is very important to do ot in special clothes for chemical experiences. There are lot of cases when people didn't wear it and were inhaling these toxic air. Think that you don't need the explanation that it can end very bad. For example, my friend was working with toxic heavy metals. After some time, he said me that he noticed some changes in state of health. I asked him to see the doctor. Doctor prescribed him [Spam removed. User banned.]

Old conversation, but yes - it is safe to mix acetone alcohol and dry ice. The mixture will be stable and can be used over and over again with new dry ice.

I’m a synthesete. This is normal for me, I experience music in shapes and color.

But do you experience paintings as music?

And as a side note, if you really do experience music as colors and shapes, you should check out a Mongolian metal band called "The Hu". All kinds of really cool sounds, from metal guitars to throat singing, and these really cool giant "air-hoo" ( sorry I don't know how to spell it).

Yes, I really do experience music in shape and color. I’ll check out the band you suggested.
