mixing ratios for acra glass liquid?

I know this question has probably been beat to death. But here it goes again.
I believe the last thread this was broached, the question was answered that the liquid was a 1:4 ratio.

But when I read the directions in my liquid, it says to mix 1 ounce of Resin to 1/4 ounce of hardner.

This sounds to me like a 1:5 ratio. Since there are 4 (1/4's) to one ounce, and you adding 1/4 ounce for a total of 5 parts which I think makes a 1:5 ratio.

Some one correct me if this wrong. Thanks

1 part to 4 parts=5 parts total

Scale: 1 part= 1/4 ounce

This is just spelled out to help you get the idea. Probably just a brain fart.

four to one means four of one thing to one of the other. And yes, four plus one is five. So a four to one ratio will be 80% epoxy and 20% hardener. I understand the confusion, you're over thinking it, I've done the exact same thing before.

instead of using weights, I always used volume. I buy the syringes for horses at Tractor supply and (when I used acraglas) would mix up 4 ml of resin to 1 ml of hardener. I use G-flex now, and it is a one to one ratio, so I don't have to do the math.

I much prefer G-flex. I know that acraglas is a great epoxy, but when I used it I didn't get the mixture right, and the acraglas kept oozing out between the handles and tang. I much prefer epoxy with a one to one ratio.
I showed that knife to a customer and said it was not for sale because of the way the epoxy was oozing out, and the customer would not leave until he had bought that knife.

I use 10 CC syringes and for a single knife I use 1 CC of hardener to 4 CC's of epoxy. I use separate syringes for each compound. If I need a larger batch, I just double or triple the amounts. I've found that a triple batch is about all I can use before it starts to get too thick to work.

Next time I order epoxy it will be gflex. I just had a bulk supply of the liquid acraglass that I had to use up first.
I will just remember to use 4 parts of resin to one part of hardner, by volume.

Never had an issue with Acra glass, I order the little plastic mixing cups with measurements marked on them.
