Im just back after long 3-week holiday. Last week Ive spent with my wife and friends on a sailing yacht on the lakes North of Poland. Well
before my sailing adventure Ive decided to leave my Sebenza home (hard to believe but true) and give a chance to my MK VI instead. Man, what a knife is that! It was my companion couple of times in the woods but this time it was my primary utility blade. And here begins my short story about MK VI
MK VI was our all-round yacht kitchen knife. Slicing bread, meat, tomatoes, etc. and even opening cans couple of times. Good user. Splitting some kindling (of course), preparing fresh fish, cutting line. Third day of my sailing, when weve been just about to set sail, weve realized that our centerboard got stuck. Not nice. Ive checked the problem a lot of water-weed there! OK, time for MK VI Ive removed tons of this stuff with my blade. Good work. We can sail again
Morning shave can you imagine better razor than Chris Reeve knife after some sharpening & stropping?
This time no fun at all. I decided to go with my friend through some green woods & bush to get some fish from a fishermen-base nearby. Not much more than a mile so nice walking distance. In the middle of the way back we were caught by heavy summer storm. Within 5 minutes the sky got dark and I've experienced probably the heaviest rain ever! The rain was so heavy that were not able to see anything past 10 yards. We lost the way within 3 minutes or so... and no chance to find it back. Some swamps around, green "walls" ewerywhere generally we were in a deep sh#t there. Normally Id stay and wait 30 minutes or even an hour as thats standard time for such a storm. But our wives were still on the yacht and with such a strong wind & rain God knows what could have happen. So we decided to cut a way straight to the lake and than cut another one to the yacht! So I cleaned some branches, cane, bush etc. with my MK VI and after 20 minutes we found the yacht. Storm was just over BTW and our wives did the job very well with additional anchor and cutting off a boom-tent (yes, there was no time to untie it!). Anyway, the MK VI opened our way back to the boat with such an ease! My friend wants one now as well! And it was still scary sharp after 20 min. of continuous cutting some branched up to one inch diameter! Here is a picture of us two after all this.
All I can say is thanks Chris for this blade. Well, in the end Im so glad Ive left my benza home. Now I know more about CRK one-piece knives than needed to tell you: get one, use it hard, and youll not regret. Of course Ive had some more knives with me but MK VI was for sure The knife of my holiday, no doubts about it. And two more pics of my knife:
