I'm not sure you guys want to see yet another picture of yet another knife. I mean, you guys know what knives look like, seen 'em before, etc.... But I really like this knife and wanted to share it with some other knife knuts. (My wife just doesn't get it: "OK, it's a knife. How much did it cost?")

Made by Matt of ML Knives, it is 9.5" OAL, has a full tang with a 5" handle of Ivory micarta slabs pinned with brass pins, and a 4.5" blade of 1095. Matt calls it his Woods & Bush model. I call it sweet. I think it's a pretty classic bushcrafting design. It may be my favorite knife.

I'm tempted to say "this is it, I don't need anymore knives", but let's not fool ourselves here. :D However, it is the kind of knife that makes me think of becoming monogamous.

I won't be able to describe the feel of this knife adequately. It has great balance and a very solid feel. I asked Matt to try Ivory Micarta for the handles--Matt is extremely nice to work with by the way--and I think they turned out really nicely.

I tried a few different grips and it's very comfortable all around. The micarta handle is finished to feel smooth like ivory and it could be slick when wet--time will tell. Nevertheless, I think the woven lanyard is a good idea for this handle.

Those of you who know Matt's work, know what excellent knives he makes, and this one continues to uphold his well deserved reputation of excellence. Fit and finish are excellent, blade came razor sharp (I managed to get bit right away!), and he makes a really good sheath.

Anyway, for those of you wondering which bushcrafting knife you should get, definitely consider an ML knife. I'd put this up against any woodcraft knife out there. (When are we going to have a maker's Bushcrafter Challenge?)

(And I'd love to see some pics of other people's ML knives--post 'em up!)

I really like that blade profile. Looks like a great knife. Sort of like a "refined" kephart, smoother taper to the point and gentler integrated guard. Looks like it fits your hand perfectly also.

Looks great, you can never call Matt's work ' Just another knife ' !

His knives are the only ones that make me nervous when I get them out of the box because of how scary sharp they are !!!!!

I love the white micarta handles and the rough finish on the blade. What does your sheath look like?

Great looking blade. Just wondering, what is that beautiful white background you used in the pics?:D

What does your sheath look like?

How thoughtless of me....

Ken -- I think my new romance with this knife may be inspired in part by how well the handle suits my hand. It's hard to put down--except to put a band-aid on. :D

Pro-T -- are you another citizen of Texas?

No, Oregon actually. I'm in North Carolina right now trying to stay out of that beautiful white stuff. I saw some when I was in Maine a few weeks back and thought "it's way to early for this stuff".

Rotte,

You are a bad man... I've been eye-balling ML's big choppers for a while now, but have been busy picking up blades from a couple other folks. That blade just makes want to pull the trigger! Great score!

Just trying to corrupt others...to make myself feel better about the money I've been dropping on steel lately. :D

Seriously though, Matt makes some great knives. This is my third ML and it is excellent. (Makes me think of doing a group photo...)

Nice Caine! Really like that one on the bottom. Which model is that?

Hudson Bay, Woods & Bush, Last Chance.

The Last chance carries easily in the pocket and is one of the handiest knives I've every owned. Fiercely sharp!

Something like this is my ' Grail knife ', I turn 40 this year so maybe Mrs Pit will take care of me !

Very nice, Rotte. You made a fine choice for a woods knife.

Matt's Woods & Bush Knife is one of my very favorite bush knives in terms of design, materials, and the way Matt fit the handle to my XL hand. Love working with the knife and I think you will too.

I really like that. A lot. The handle is gorgeous. I take it the blades are forged? excuse my ignorance!
