Mnandi calling my name!!!!

I just wish the newer Mnandis were a bit easier to open with one hand. It can be done, but takes practice (especially the damascus ones, which add a little friction). They are of absolutely superb quality, though, equal to the William Henry in tolerances and fit and finish, although WH's tend to use more exotic materials like ZDP-189, which adds to their cost.

Dennis, you are the epitome of the true collector. I am SO envious.

Hey .... don't get me wrong .... I also love the small Sebenza!!! It's just that I am retired ..... don't REALLY need to carry a knife for anything but pleasure and the occasional task that might come up. I have plenty of knives reserved to do "dirty" work. There is just something about a small, elegant gent's (and that's short for gentlemen and gentlegals!!!) folder that I just find appealing. There are, however, plenty of reasons to love the small Sebbies too. Here are some of those reasons:

While I still like the large Sebenzas ..... my preference has definitely shifted to Mnandis, followed closely by the small Sebenzas.

You got me pegged all wrong! I'm am a newby compared to a lot of the folks here (not going to mention names, for fear of omitting someone!!). However, I do have a rule ..... I only buy what I like and what I have every intention of keeping!!!! I've got this separation anxiety thing ...... not sure I could bear to part with any of them!!!! So catch and release is a frightening phrase to me! Though, I must admit, I have bought a number of other brand knives that after I got them and played with them ..... found myself scratching my head wondering why!!!! Good example would be my two Spyderco Paramilitary2s. I know they have a fervent following. So, I bought one of the regular S30Vs. Thought ..... ehhhh. Put away in my knife chest. Then, I decided to buy one of the exclusive M390 Para2s (mainly because I like M390). Again, it arrived and I thought ..... ehhhh!!! So, both now sit, side-by-side, in my knife chest ..... starving for attention! I try NOT to make that mistake with CRKs!!!

Thanks bld522, and JB in SC. That helps me out. Light combined with strength is a good combo. Amazing that it is only half the weight of the small sebenza. Almost hard to imagine.

Believe it or not, the Mnandi is actually a pretty beefy knife for its size. If you want a larger knife than a Mnandi that rivals its fit and finish but adds little or no weight, I'd suggest you look into William Henry knives. William Henry and Chris Reeve are my favorite production knife manufacturers in the small to medium gentlemen's knives category.

I'd echo that. The Mnandi plenty for most tasks. A lot of knife for it's size and weight.
