Hi Folks,

Just wanting some opinions from Mnandi EDC'ers, do you prefer to carry your Mnandi clip on or clip removed and is there any advantage one way or the other. I've had some knives with a clip that I slip in my pocket, like the Spyderco Milli and the Native. Even though they have a clip I just put them in my pocket for one reason or another. I would probably do the same with a Mnandi (currently on the lookout for one in snakewood, hint hint). Does the clip add to the Mnandi's grip?

Background: former CRK owner/lurker. A few years ago, I had developed a real fondness for traditionals, still fond of them actually and I don't see that going away. The traditional bug allowed me to take a long hiatus from wanting anything remotely modern after trying out a 100+ knives in the last few years since discovering bladeforum.

During that time I was able to pick up quite a few Sebenza "substitutes" including: Ti Sage 2, CRKT Drifter, BM Pinnacle 750, Bradley Alias and Alias Auto, Protech, Some odd ball brand Ti framelock in D2 whose name I forget, AGR Gentlemen's framelock, and I'm sure quite a few others. My wife finally got sick of me trying out knives and got me a large Wilson Combat Starbenza which led to a WC small. Fun knives, great f&f but unfortunately they really didn't fit my suburban NJ life. All in all the Sebenza format as much as I enjoyed them were a little too stabby, a little tactical to be taking out in public.

Fast forward the traditional bug really hit me hard and had filled that "safe" EDC knife niche. I know some folks are able or feel comfortable carrying whatever they want in public and whipping it out in public but I'm not in that bucket. Passing through the WTC for work in downtown Manhattan one is subject to random searches and any type of locking knife is really a no no.

But that said I've recently got the bug to try a new knife and have been looking far and wide for something interesting and I keep on coming back to the mnandi even though it locks. That said would love to hear if Mnandi users tend to keep the clip on it or not and if it matters? Giving me something to think about until I find one to order. Thanks!

I have owned a mnandi for only a few weeks but I carry no sheath with clip on so I have options if I need them, like shirt pocket. I just got back from NYC and felt quite normal with it. Can't imagine it would draw any attention. The way I read the ny law is gravity is the issue. No mnandi is going to open via gravity or centrifugal force. It just doesn't look menacing. Great knife for the office if you want high end without being that knife guy.

I carry my mnandi, without a clip, in a leather slip. I carry my GEC #77 the same way.

Did you guys notice any difference in purchase with the clip or without? My closest proxy to a Mnandi was owning a GB Air which I really liked minus the weird silver twill scales.

I prefer to carry a Mnandi without the clip so you can get the full view of the great scales:)

I like the inlay on the back of this one so well that I flipped the clip and pivot to the opposite side.

Ordered some screws today to give it a shot clipless on my two. I just didn't like how the clip felt in hand when using. Strange, as the clip doesn't bother me on any other knives.

I leave the clip on with my two Mnandi. That said I have thought about taking the clip off but it just does not happen. I normally carry it clipped into the 5th/watch pocket on my jeans.

Getting the mnandi in hand I'm thinking pouch carry no clip. I can't really picture ever using the clip.

Awesome EDC size though. I wish I had my GB Air still as a comparison.
