Mnandi: My latest Obsession

Hello everyone,
I thought I would share some info on the Source/age of the Bog Oak inlays CRK used on my Mnandi. I emailed them to ask about it because I'm interested in the history of such things. I received a very nice return email from Alycia the very next day...

"I hope you are enjoying your Mnandi! Our Bog Oak comes from Northern Germany, from the area of Stade. It's a very "swampy" area next to the river "Elbe". The farmers in this area are occasionally lucky to find bog oak while working in the fields. The batch of Bog Oak recovered for us is between 3,000 and 6,000 years old! (This age is determined by the coloring of the Bog Oak.)"

Now to find a 10,000 year old bark to go with this 5,000yr old wood...

Nice! I have user # 136 myself ;)

Hope you're hearts are strong enough. I think you'll find this one well worth the tease.....

The birthcard....

With the 2007 Ebony that also arrived today. The Ebony is also nice, but Ebony never hangs around here very long. This one probably won't be the one to change that.

The Spalted Beech that I've seen so far varies a lot, and I'm not sure I really like most of it. I like all of it to admire, but wasn't sure I was going to buy one. Until I saw this one, that is.....

Thanks for this information. That area is close to the city of Hamburg, where I was born and raised. That makes a Bog Oak inlayed CRK a "must have" for me :-)

AMAZING! LW, please know that my future Mnandi collection can be traced directly back to you!

That makes me very happy I shared that info. Can't wait to see a pic of yours when you pick it out.

Hello Peter,
is it possible to see the birthcard of this one, do you think it was anodized fom CRK?
Thank you
Alex

Hi Alex,
I'll take a pic when I return to the office at the weekend but I doubt the anodizing was done by CRK.

Peter
