Mnandi: Really?

I can open it just using the fleshy pad of my thumb on the nail nick, it is a liner lock, and all my Sebenzas are large so I'm not sure if its smaller than a small Sebenza or not, but it's pretty small!
Thanks for the info my friend.

Any idea what the 2 dimples are for, the ones to left of the nail nick on the frame? Do you know if that's functional or just a design element?

I recall reading in another thread that the clip can be removed on the new Mnandi, but requires a new spacer of fastener or something. Damn it man, I'm thinking way too much about that knife.

I believe that's part of the "spring" of the liner lock. Sebs have them aswell, only on the inside.

Don't think, just buy:thumbup:

I'm a liar.

In regards to opening one handed I use my thumb and middle finger to "pinch" the nail nicks pulling the blade out, then I guide it the rest of the way with my thumb.

I'd been opening it this whole time without paying attention as to how I was doing it:foot:

Aye, the Mnandi is a great little knife for sure. That's you goosed now though, it won't be long before you have another 3 and then damascus pops it head up.

Those dimples are inded the cut out for the lock bar spring, that cut out or fluting is found on all frame lock knives and some liner locks. The clip can also be taken off with out issue, I don't know if the new style clip has caused this probalem but that is the old style and can be removed.

Thanks for the info my friend.

Much ablidged Haze.

The Mnandi is even smaller than the small Sebenza. Someone post a side by side pic! I don't have a small Seb. : (

The clip can be removed but requires a screw in order to screw into, and retain, the pivot. This screw does not come with the new Mnandis. I would imagine that CRK would send one upon request though.

Edit: I added a photo of a new Mnandi with the clip disassembled for reference. As you can see, the male threads that screw into the pivot are integral to the new clip.

Good to know, thanks Gents. That's too bad that the Mnandi is smaller than a small Sebbie, that kind of bursts my bubble; cause I find the small Sebbie a tad too small.

It's the "click" of the lock going home that gets you- doesn't sound like any other knife (that I know of). And lots of cutting edge for such a small, light knife. My favorite CRK.

Hell I didn't either until today!

Im pretty sure its framelock with an overlayed piece of wood!
Me thinx its the same principle as a sebenza
(feel free to correct me however... ;)

Shocked, I love this thing and expect to pick up a couple more down the road.

Yep. That's it. No way back. You're hooked! :D

Before you know it, you'll have 6 Mnandis. Or 9. Or 12... ;)

This one is VERY nice, I love that Lignum wood!

Mvg,

Jos

the mnandi, never thought I'd need or want one, have other small knives (slippies)
BUT one day after 100000 pics of the mnandi thread I thought, I could try one and I was offered one, I bought
man it's a great knife, light but strong, sharp, cool, classy just a knife to have

and the finish, details, design, mechanics are sick! love both I have!
congrats on your "first"

Ok, I will NOT post anymore when tired!:D

It IS a framelock. I genuinely thought I typed that. Knife jargon overload :chargrined:

Don't let that turn you off. I think that's what makes me dig it so much, it's compliments my large Sebenzas by having such a contrast in size:thumbup:

You are correct, it is a frame lock and shares many characteristics of the Sebenza. The wood is actually inlaid, not overlaid, again just like the inlaid versions of Sebenzas. The one difference is over the lockbar. On the Mnandi the wood "bridges" over the lockbar whereas the lockbar on the Sebenza is not covered. This gives the visual impression of a liner lock on the Mnandi. I believe the wood is inlaid up to the area of the lock bar scallops. I personally love the visual appearance of the full wood inlays on both sides.

I am indeed hosed, there's no getting around that :p

Then bark mammoth with damascus pops its head up.

Probably my favorite combination. All in good time:thumbup:

I love the clicks that my CRK's produce, a sound that makes me smile:)

Mvg,

I love the Lignum too, especially in sunlight. I'm hoping I'm not bit the way I am with Sebenzas, but I know I'm kidding myself. I knew as soon as I opened it there will be more to follow.

Exactly how it happened to me. The thread your talking about, like most pic threads here, is very dangerous and should come with a warning label for those like myself that have self control issues:D
