I just noticed the ATAX in your photo and am curious about it:confused: Could you do a review with some pictures please:D

I did a brief review of it a while back in this thread:

I really like the ATAX. Joezilla reviewed it in a recent copy of Tactical Knives. It is a heavy duty chunk of 1095 that is very comfortable to wear.. There is a training video that goes with it that discusses all of its features, but I really use it as a hand axe/knife. It can easily be attached to a branch with zip ties or cordage for a field axe/hatchet.. Here are some pics..

i have had one for a while, it is a beast of a blade, was originally created to take care of your chopper/large blade needs and be a small belt carry item, a lot of other tools are included like the bearing for a fire bow, a clinometer, wrench, hammer, nail puller, and a small survival kit in the handles, it needs a small companion knife to do some of the minor chores , a multitool or sak would be a good choice.

i have had mine attached to a handle with paracord and it does chop well, it is not a full sized axe, but will build a shelter easily. it travels alot more easily than a 9 inch blade does, you can get into a car/snow machine/bush plane with it on your belt. again for the intended purpose of a compact choppping tool it does a good job. it is not a full sized axe, but i dont feel underequiped while wearing it.

one of the guys on the hoodlum forum built a primative bow just using it as the tool, he did a good job on it. so it will work as advertized as far as the uses i have put it to.

How well does it chop without attaching it to anything?

Mneedham, thanks for showing it in a photo with other items, it helps to scale it. I find it looks very useful and would enjoy finding a used one to try. Not so much for the axe ability but for all the other uses. It appears to be very useful at first glance; as noted by another her it has many functions, kind of like a flat swiss army knife.
