Here is the start of this hand carved door. The curly Brazilian mahogany is some stout wood with a very tight grain structure, this door weighs 87 lbs.

Then we start chopping

And chopping....

Here's another video

Then we decide to chop some more...

Here are a few of it finished

Here are the final chops on the curly Brazilian mahogany hand carved door... I got a confirmation from the builder that this door was $2,787, then they are paying me big bucks per hour to destroy this and 6 other doors. The other doors are made from knotty Alder.

Busse knows INFI, INFI knows destruction....

I'll add some more tonight.

Sorry to Rob, I tried to make them smaller.... It didn't work

Never mind, for some reason I read your boss wanted you to do it. Haven't even started drinking yet...:)

I'm torn big time on this one. It's cool that you got to put your Moabolo to use, but I'm bummed that such a beautiful door was destroyed. What's the back story?

I could be wrong, but based on the location of the chops I am pretty sure this is for a specifically intended look, not destruction. Like Dave's zombie skin sheaths or Competition Finish. ;)

I could be way off, but I don't think he's 'destroying' the door,, I'm guessing they wanted the distressed look to be really exaggerated,,,
Could look killer after a staining..

Wouldn't the easiest, fastest and most cost effective way to destroy them be to get the chainsaw out? I mean instead of your boss paying more money/hour to have em destroyed?

I didn't say it would be the most fun though :D

I can only get about the top 20% of the pics to load on my phone, so I can't really see what the extent of the damage is.

Hes not taking massive hits to destroy it,, just taking notches out to make it look old, used,,
Or am I wrong breav?

Great Job Breavis, next object a Toyota Prius-OHHHHH YEA!!!!! Can't wait brother

I once had to "hew" some clear heart redwood siding to match that on my old bungalow built in the 20's. Hated to do it, but wanted to match. So I hacked out some notches and it matched very well. Good thing, that siding was $$$.

The back story is that a vp for wells Fargo loves old things. She purchases everything and pays for it to be "distressed", cabinets, doors, crown moulding, every wall of her house is faux finished even every ceiling.

She searched for an old door but couldn't find what she wanted so I made it. She has never used my company but swears she will from here on out.... I can't beat ithe door enough for this lady.

For all those wondering, I am a craftsman, the things I build are part of me. I love wood and precious hand made works of art. I was painful every swing of the Moabolo or swing of the hammer, it killed me to destroy the beauty of this door.
