Modded my Junglas, lots-O-pics-n-how-to

That's the finest looking Junglas modding I have ever seen, you have serious talent!!

The "primer" under the paint is not primer. That is the result of the paint stripper slightly reacting with the steel. These strippers are almost always a dilute form of phosphoric acid. Phosphoric acid is a major component of the Parkerizing or manganese phosphating treatment. Phosphoric acid alone will usually give you that dull grayish color, and with certain additions can result in any number of colors including green and black.

P.S. Nice work, looks great.

Thanks! , that's good to know!

did you scratch off the paint of the esee and rowen logos or did the etchantgo right through the white?

Sooooo how much do you charge for this? You have a talent bro. Makes me want a junglas even more

The etching is something to behold, man. Ever since I first saw your first Junlglas, it makes me want to try etching something!

Oh and whoever it was, (I forget) who was asking about how to get ferric chloride, check your local Radio Shack and ask for printed circuit board etchant. They usually have it right in the store, and if not, they can order it up right quick. You can get the stripper at any hardware store or Home Depot/Lowes type store, just look for something like Prep'nEtch or Jasco Metal Prep. Look on the ingredients list for phosphoric acid. This stuff will act as a pretty effective rust deterrent also, as that is what phosphatizing/Parkerizing was originally intended to do, remove and prevent recurrence of rust.

The esee logos/lettering are laser etched through the paint, and already expose the bare metal underneath. So all I do is clean it first with soap/water then alcohol before putting into the etchant.

Based on this thread I am now etching a RC4. It looks good so far.

Thanks for showing how this was done.

My Junglas has been in the etchant since yesterday, looks great so far. I just got home with some paint stripper, that's tomorrow!

I decided to leave the RC4 in the etchant for less than 24hrs. It is not super deep but it's deep enough for me. Not I am stripping the coating.

I don't have a Junglas, but I'm curious how the thickness of it's scales compare to the thickness of the RC4 scales. Does anyone have both that can tell me the thickness difference?

So does the etchant just remove the white paint that the stripper wouldn't be able get...??

Sorry, I'm not sure what you mean by "white paint"? There is no white paint on the Junglas. Are you referring to the original look of the ESEE lettering?
