Modded Rat Trap

Pitdog read above, rat's don't but squirrels will get hit by the bar and fall down with a broken back. This means you won't collect dinner if foxes, cats, or yotes are in the area. That squirrel will be letting off it's high pitched scream.

With the screws they won't because the screws go into the hide.

When a mouse trips your trap and walks away with your bait and you have nothing that is a loosing proposition.

THis isn't playing, this is when you really got to eat. Watch John and EDIT: GERI mcPherson. Watch Cody lundin. Watch Bruce Buckshot hemingway. normalcy bias.
You may not want a mouse but it is either food for you or bait to move up the food chain.

Putting it in trees for what is a prevalent game animal in this part of the US, squirrels means mice will not trip it as much. However, I have seen it happen.

My thought with the 4 attachment points is that I could put it horizontally with cordage, and maybe a mouse could not climb across like a squirrel.

Trapping is a good strategy, and all different types of traps increase your odds.

Sorry buddy, been drinking and missed that part !:D

Screws can be adjusted, taken out, don't want to get guts, but may in some instance want to grip the hide. Rebar tie wire can be put across if trap is positioned in a place where mice may get it.

I have seen something similiar to this (not quite as many death screws) used to catch fish. It actually worked. Simple easy way to catch small fish in smal little streams.

interesting. So it was just a rat trap?

I take my head net out of my left bdu pocket for a net for small fish. Very easy to move up the food chain from there.

I ground down the ttips of the removable screws, make handy little awls if necessary on thin hides. These traps work, have a sensitive toggle, just have to use funneling well. With some PB they can go a long way. Easily obtainable at a local hardware, easily cached, just pretty much available where ever there is a hardware store. I caught a glimpse of Buckshots ultimate trapping guide http://www.snare-trap-survive.com/Buckshots-Trapping-DVDs-S.htm

In which he goes over rat traps- how they break down over time. I don't remember if he soaked them in Thompson's water seal/paint etc. And I would agree, but the spring will not wear down for a long long time like connibear 110's which means you should be able to reuse it. COuld reuse it on a plastic cutting board which wouldn't wear down etc.

I am really liking modded connibear 110's but this is another option.
