Model 1 folder - IMPORTANT

I completely agree with you. Ontario is an outstanding American made knife company. Very few of them left and we want to see all of them continue to do well since it is a direct reflection on the American made manufacturer as a whole. Our whole argument, if there is one, centers completely on the Asian made folder. Mike and I still have the RAT name on the American made Ontario product. We wish everyone at Ontario the best, and that's as honest as I can be.

Derrick, If I'm not mistaken, your Ontario rep is Bob and Jim T. Good people!

If your talking about Bob C. he is a good guy.

Bob Cramer is good people also. Derrick's rep is Bob Taylor. They just don't come any better than Bob and Jim Taylor.

BTW: We just heard through one of our government guys that Ontario was just awarded another military contract for 2.2 million $. So, Ontario is going to continue to be busy for a while to come...that's a good thing. We love to hear it when American made companies are able to stay viable and keep their work force going strong.

Jeff

Oklahoma/Texas/Louisiana/etc. is Taylor territory I thought - guess I was wrong ;)

So, I guess you're an Ontario house account and not in a rep territory? Bob Cramer is in sales but he stays inside the plant in Franklinville, at least that's the way it use to be. Either way, Cramer or the Taylors., they're all stand-up guys and take care of their customers.

In house account. Although if I had to guess, I don't have a rep. I just call in and ask for Bob because he set things up for me originally. Just placed another big order with him. They make good stuff!

Jeff, I look forward to the day you have your folders built by you/ Rowen.

Kevin (MD) speaks highly of your knives and you know how hard that is to get out of him about anything.

Thanks for building knives in the USA - it's one more thing I can buy and keep my dollars circulating in the US.

Parker, tell Kevin I said hi when you talk with him. There are a few "knife guys" in this industry that have supported us and helped us from jumpstart. Kevin is one of them. I have a lot of respect for the man, simply due to the way he has treated us. The Mad Dog Arizona Hunter is still my favorite fixed blade of any (and I do mean "any") knife made, production or otherwise.

I have a question about the RAT folder that you guys will (hopefully) be making in the future. IIRC you mentioned a while back that the blade steel would be VG-10 (correct me if i'm wrong)? However, I was under the impression that VG-10 knives usually had to be produced in Japan? Would you guys be able to score some VG-10 and produce the knives state side?

True, our comments may be unfair to Asia as a whole, but at the risk of hurting someone's feelings I'm going to say it just like we feel: Our first concern is with the American worker and the American manufacturer. We may lose a LOT of business because of this but we stand on the statement that you quoted above. Too many American made knife companies have gone overseas and we're just tired of it. Mike and I are not in this business for a quick buck. We have nothing against Asia except our loyalties are with the American worker and manufacturer first. Hopefully Asia likes our American made product well enough to continue to buy it as they have the Asian made folder. Maybe that might balance the trade deficit a little, eh? ;)

Jeff

This is why I will always be loyal to your company.

The first production run folders should have "First Production Run" labeled on the blade But then again, I haven't seen any that doesn't have that on them. You would have to ask an Ontario dealer what the new ones they are receiving have on them. Ontario was suppose to stop building these. We asked them to stop due to them being are built in Taiwan. At this stage, whether that has happened I don't know. In fact, at this stage we don't know anything about Ontario and current production.
