Model 120 or the General

So, aside from free sharpening and a funky logo on the blade, what is the diff between a "Pro-Line" versus a "standard"?????

.

The only difference I can see is that the Cabelas [Idaho] "Pro-Line" seems to have much darker spacers than the [upside-down T] standard 119 Special...

The "logo" isn't as bad as the AG series logos...

No...the AG logo is better!!!!
Taste great, less filling?
Surf or Turf?
The Professor or Mrs Howell?

I guess I don't get why they call it a "Pro-Line" iffn the steel and other major components are the same.

That's been a hot topic of discussion here in the last year, not just the 120 either...but the general answer is that the 120 is no longer sold by Buck, but is occasionally available from the bigger distributors who can afford to put in a large "special order" for them...SMKW, Cabelas...(I forget the other big distributor)...

I too bought one of the Pro-Line 120's a month or so ago...and soon after that also got a new 120 [not a pro-line] from another distributor...as well as a pre-86 120...

So they are still out there...You just have to make the rounds... ;)

Trax, are you EDC'ing any of those Generals?

Also, interested in your thoughts regarding form, fit, and function now that you've had 'em a bit...

A question:

what shall I do with a Pro Line 120 with the lifetime sharpening guarantee when my knife an I are sitting in Europe? Does Buck has an office in good old Germany or another contractual partner to achieve this contract? :-))

Best Regards,
Herbert

Herbert,

I would recommend that you send me your 120  ; I'll send it to get sharpened whenever you want :D .

I think Herbert should start scheduling his 2008 vacation to Post Falls, ID for the BCCI gig. He can pack it in his checked luggage, get it worked on, and meet some of ya yahoos at the same time.

No, the sheath does not suit my method of extracting the knife. If I can find someone who can make a sheath to my drawing, I'll do it. But until then, it's carried in hand...

I think the grip needs to be longer...maybe as much as 1/2", but definately more than 1/4"...

I should point out that I don't hunt...others may have differing opinions...
