Model C32?

What happened to the stainless/kraton mini-hunter? Looked like an interesting and tough little bugger - it's in an old catalog I have from '96 or '97.

If these are no longer being produced does anyone know where I could find one NIB?

Jon

Is that the Spur? (Mini version of the Provenator). If it is, it's been long gone, discontinued. As for one NIB you might want to post in the Knives Wanted forum and see if you get any bites. Good luck.

I guess it's the Spur. The little catalog says it's unnamed. Yes, mini pro-venator.

Had anyone handled one of these? I'm guessing it's like a very beefy stainless Dragonfly.

Jon

Jon - Dex is correct. We only made them for a few months. Ran into some problems (not on the model, business problems) and had to stop production. Patti (Lokelani) has one that she carries all of time. It is a tough little handful of knife that was made for the "Horse" people. I have a proto coming with a hawkbill blade. If we get some good reaction, we may bring it out again.

Consider this your first "good reaction". I`m hoping for a fully serrated hawkbill.

Greetings Ghecko. The Spur is a fine little folder and a nice grip can be obtained because of its kraton inserts. The pocket clip also has kraton fill ins, on the outside and underneath to provide a tight grip when in the pants pocket. Personally, I' d change the clip to a plain steel one as I find that it is a bit annoying to pull and insert the knife out so often due to the kraton.

PS- a member just posted one 4 sale yesterday!! Go!!

Hmmm, a hawkbill might be in the works? 'Love to see that one...

I'll go looking for the one in the Sale/Trade forum. Thanks for the tip.

Nakano-
The first thing I did with my Spur was to change to an all ss clip. It's a very handy knife which I use for everything. I especially like the 50/50 edge.

We have a few of the C32PS Spur that we had Leonard Haraga remove the kraton insert and inlay and engrave sterling silver and polish the knife.

If you are interested have your dealer call me or contact Wright Knives.

John Jensen,

Are pictures of these engraved Spur's available on the 'net?

Does anyone know what the non-engraved models originally retailed for?

Jon

Lokelani: yes, mine does have the all steel clip. It can now be used as a money clip as well although a bit heavy. I' m a plain guy myself and wished they came in a non serrated pattern. But all in all a great pocket folder.

Ghecko,

They last retailed for 94.95. I believe they were discontinued in 1995.

No pictures yet - I'll work on that.

I'd like to see some pictures... There's an engraved pro-venator on a book cover somewhere (don't remember the book). It looks very, very nice.

Jon

If you're interested to see what a plain vanilla (no, not the engraved one) Spur looks like, you can look here.

To answer some questions in advance: no, the handle is not damascus, no, the blade is not black, and no, the serrations are not rusty

. The scan was done in haste, and I don't have Mr. Mattis' talents with a scanner. The knife has a brushed steel handle, with kraton insert (front side only, plus a kraton-and-steel clip, which I replaced with an all steel one), and satin-finished GIN-1 blade -- aside from the kraton, the construction is similar to Spyderco's other all-steel knives.
