Hi Nathan,I didn't know Tom Mayo had a Model TNT. So , with all due respect , I didn't know I had to ask . I think Nobel kind of trademarked those letter's though didn't he ????? Tom frequents this forum & if he asks me to change the model # of my Blade I surely will - I'm really easy to get along with & the days of me argueing & bickering over silly matters such as this are long over with friend . Just for the record MY TNT letter play stands for "Titanium -n- Talonite"

David, if you do a little research, you will find that Tom Mayo has been using the "TNT" name to identify his titanium and talonite (and titanium and stellite) folders for a number of years. If your use of the term is OK with Tom, then I don't see a problem. However, you might want to contact him to be sure.

Oops! Sorry, should have posted that . . . Titanium Spacer Bar and Talonite Blade Thickness is .070 and the two outer Titanium Handle Scales are .090 each. Making the handle thickness an even .250 - Thanks for bringing this to my attention!

OK, then just to clarify......

.250 would be = to 1/4" thick and .125 would be = to 1/8" thick,

so the talonite thickness is just over 1/16" thick.....

......is that about right?

Nice looking blade by the way:) .... I just like my blade stock to be at least 5/32" thick

thanks for the additional info!

I think you've got it Kawanin, as far as the measurements go :) ! IMHO, I think that 5/32" (.156) would be a little heavy for this size necker, but it sounds like you know what you like and that's okay. Thanks for the compliment and I appreciate your interest!

David, you still haven't clarified your use of the "TNT" name. I contacted Tom, and it does not appear that you have his permission in this regard. Saying "I didn't know I had to ask" doesn't cut it.

Wow! That's a pretty confrontational approach. You apparently know that Tom frequents this forum, so it's safe to assume that you know that Tom has not only used the name TNT for many years, but that it is his Signature knife design. It's soo well known that it's also a Buck Knives model that is a collaboration between Buck and Tom. While Tom's a really nice guy and makes awesome knives and might not be inclined to pursue this matter on his own, I wonder if Buck might be interested in someone appropriating a name that they've certainly been marketing in the knife market and have a vested interest in? I wonder if they trademarked the name?

Your knife looks well finished so it's obvious that you're not a complete newbie, so why would you choose to take this approach? I can't see how this is likely to enhance your reputation or increase your sales. Very strange.

Nathan , you are an outright LIAR ! You did NOT talk to Tom Mayo - I DID ASSHOLE !! And J. , I can't believe you're taking part in this . Nathan- are you really that poor that you have to chase this ambulance ? GET A LIFE MAN - I contacted Tom about 24 hours ago about this issue - this is the last communication you will get from me on this issue - you both go on my ignore list . DONT MAKE ASSUMPTIONS-GET THE FACTS FIRST!!

Good Morning Mr. Mayo ,
You probably don't know me.My name is David Wesner , I have a small Custom Blade shop in Michigan's Upper Peninsula called Kelsey Creek Knife Works.I made this Blade & posted it for sale on Blade Forums http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=402387

I just wanted to be the one to bring it to your attention & let you know that this was TOTALLY UNINTENTIONAL (the naming of the Blade). Let me know what, if anything you want to do . If this goes anywhere (the Blade Style ) I will come up with a different Model #.I hope you have a great day. I'm off to the shop to make some more chips:) .
Sincerely,
David Wesner

Gee, I can't see how this is going to help your reputation either. Now, if you want to put me on ignore, that's fine. But, I won't see your response, because this little post of yours put you on my ignore list. :thumbdn:

Thanks .270 Weatherby, David is out in the shop right now, so I'm (his wife) replying to your message. Funny how something unintentional can be blown out of proportion. This has really caused a lot of grief for our family in the past 24 hours! But thanks again for the post! :)

Lots of people around here don't know when to keep their mouths from running over... Best to just ignore them as I do.

Doug

Doug - Good Advice! That's what we tried to do with the first response to Nathan. However, he had brought it to our attention and that was why David e-mailed Tom to see if "Tom" wanted him to change the Model Name (not Nathan). But when Nathan lied about speaking with Tom and stated that we didn't have Tom's permission to use the name and it generated another post from another member, well even the most mild-mannered person would get upset. I'm (the wife again) upset about it because "I" named the neck knife and Dave's catching the crap for my choice. Thanks again Doug!

Uh huh. David your true colors are showing. Let's see, first you said Tom was your friend. However, I see that you had to introduce yourself to him in your email (if it was a real email, of course), so I reckon there wasn't a whole lot of friendship there. Now, who is the liar?

Then you say I didn't talk to Tom. Now how the hell would you know that? I did email Tom, but I wont print his reply here unless he OKs it. Lets just say, however, that he didn't mention anything about having giving you permission. And even if he had, it would have been up to YOU to clarify that point, because YOU are in the wrong. I have a hard time believing that a knife guy has never heard of Tom Mayo's TNT. But be that as it may, intentional use or not, you have a duty as a maker to do a little research before marketing your merchandise under the first name that pops into your head.

.270 Weatherby - Here's a hint: it helps to take your head out of your butt before you post. Otherwise you wind up looking like an idiot, like you just did.
