Modern equivalent to Case Peanut

Without a doubt the Victorinox Classic is classic for a reason. I have one in every car and in every desk. There are many great Victorinox patterns. These are most likely what I pack with me for when I visit Europe.

I do think the steel needs an upgrade in modern times. I have my eye on MKM which looks like the might be starting down that path.

It’s not that I mind sharpening my knives but if there are better modern options I see them as just being practical to use.
 
My dad wanted to carry a small knife, and after giving him a bunch of examples and asking questions, he ended up picking a Spyderco Dragonfly II Salt for the size and also for the lack of maintenance needed for the steel (in a humid, semitropical climate). I think the Dragonfly is a pretty good update to the Peanut for small, utilitarian knife.
