Modern folder hiding in traditional form?

Case Back Pocket.

+99 on the Crooked River. It’s the modern day Buck 110.

I'm about to order one in addition to the intended search of this thread. I like the wooden handle in an otherwise modern folder with a blade with some character.

Minimize, I think that we are on similar quests. I often carry a Buck 112 that I slimmed and modified to a bare head. I also bare headed a Buck 500 and the weight reduction on both makes them much friendlier in the pocket. I've also eye balled the A.G. Russell knives and thought that other manufactures should make knives combining the best of the old school and the new. Case? Buck? Are you listening? The world has enough flippers already.
HA! Thank you. Exactly what I am saying. I just want something.. different. Something that does it all without the millisecond opening!

The lock version is the Tribal, or the Wilfred Lock.
Thanks for your suggestion but the blade looks like a common SAK blade. Wanted something wider that you wouldn't find on most jack knives.

That is the type of knife I am looking for! Something with that wider blade. Basically a knife that when open looks like something 'tactical' in the blade presence.

Needs a lock.
Haha! Thank you sir.

You'll have to look for an out of production knife from Lone Wolf or a custom. Loveless drop point. My favorite field knife.

Cold Steel Broken Skull?

This is supposed to be the replacement for the Lone Star/Mackinac, which is getting expensive on the secondary market.

IMO, the Skull is not a replacement, because it does not have steel liners, and I believe the blade stock is thinner. Never mind the "look at me!" colors.

Further discussion of cost/versus value, and what including Steve Austin in the marketing campaign says about their target audience, would be a very cynical sermon about profit and corporate ethics, which is far outside the scope of this sub-forum.

Usual scoffing aside, the Gerber Gator

Has the right blade shape and general qualifications. Heat treat is an issue for Gerber. I think they need to put a few more candles in the room. I bought a Gerber to see what they're really about, and I feel like you get what you pay for, but you only get what you paid for. If they do one thing well, it's squeeze every penny of value out of their manufacturing process.

I always get a kick out of this statement. The 110 comes in an Automatic, manual, pocket clip, without pocket clip, thumb stud, thumb disc, nail nick, no nail nick. Thick or thin. Drop point or clip point. Every species of wood, g10, carbon fiber, Titanium, Micarta, stag, bone, 420, d2,s30v,s90v,Damascus bg42 etc. Brass, Nickel, aluminum, dasmascus, nylon. Every custom knife maker has their version. I would say the 110 is it's own version of modern that is pretty much unmatched with over 15 million sold. All for less than most.
Although the crooked river is a beautiful knife, Benchmade builds great knives.

For some people the Mnandi requires two hands to open.
