Modern Kephart knives? What is good these days?

I love my Carothers Kephart, but I'm surprised no one has mentioned the Becker BK62 (if you want to stick with the traditional pattern):

You also might want to also check out the ATC Rifleman, not a classic Kephart but seems like it’s also up your alley.

Not into 1095 steel for this knife. I would be more tempted to get the Brisa Kephart personally in 80CrV2 but, it is carbon steel too

Funny, there are all of these excellent Kephart-style blades, but in Camping and Woodcraft, he specifies that his knife should have 4.25" blade and 4.25" handle and be 1" across. Some posts here have alluded to this. Yet none of the "Kepharts" out there - including the Colclesser Bros one - have that form.

In fact, the closest seems to be the Old Hickory, but even it is not quite 4.25/4.25 and I don't know its width.

Not sure what to make of this, did HK change his mind once he held one? Was he bad at measuring? Anyweay loose ends bug me so this bugs me.

Also, does anyone know what steel Kephart preferred? What would have been common back then? Have the remaining Colclessers been analyzed?

Hard to choose between the many beautiful custom Kephart knives available, but Kabar's Becker BK62 in 1095 CroVan is hard to beat IMHO. Not stainless but that's not a problem with a simple wipe-down of your favorite rust preventive.
