Modern knife era - what defines it

I just want to publicly apologize to all the folks I have sold CRKs to that have included what is apparently not a hankerchief in the sense I understood 😄

I’ve sold quite a few and no one has ever asked if the hank has been used.

A modern knife is never meant to fulfill its purpose to cut things. It’s now intended to forever retain the factory edge. It’s to be pictured with trees, cats, flashlights, and whatever else may get some likes. They are to be bought and sold as lnib. They excel as fidget toys and probably cut well we assume.

And I absolutely love em! 😂
Dogs!

You forgot Dogs!

And BBQ!

😲

Wait, those shouldn't be mentioned together!🫣

That aside, probably now that there's an international industry and market for knives is also a modern characteristic.

When knives come with apps' that's when you know you hit the humdinger jackpot of superfluous modernization

Let's hope that day never comes, when you have an entire array of microchips in your knife to help you track what and how well you cut it ... We'll see if me manage to keep some aspects of our lives analog in the future

I haven't been in this hobby long, and I'd say you can't just say that we're in a modern era of knives right about now, because it depends on when that question is asked, meaning we're always in the modern era in my opinion. How long until the last (nowadays) traditional knife has vanished and we refer to Manix 2's and Sebenza's as traditional knives?

But, as others have stated before me, I also think that the integration of one-handed opening mechanisms, complex locks and pocket clips has definitely changed pocket knives for everyone.
