Modern peanut or similar sized knife? (Grandfathers birthday gift)

Would highly recommend a two blade TC 14 Barlow if you can get your hands on one!

Based on availability I would suggest either the 14 or 18. If you're willing to hunt a little and have some time to buy, I'd look at a 66 jack or slim roper

Nj-just wondered if your grandfather had any arthritis or anything of that nature in his hands/wrists? If that's the case, not a specific model recommendation, but perhaps a knife with an EO notch, or one modified by you, would be a good thing. I've noticed several of our older posters(note I didn't say older than dirt) mention that this has been helpful. That or something without too strong a pull. Of course this may not even be a consideration, but thought I'd put it out there.
Thanks, Neal
PS-there are still some of the S&M gunstocks available with cpm154 steel, clip point, 1 or 2 blades, 3.25" closed length. Food for thought. Great steel, nice looking clips, several different covers and a couple of price points. Don't know what range you're looking to spend.

Just purchased this today. I would highly recommend one. Weight is 1.3 oz. I also have a GEC #15. It's heavier for pocket carry.
Case Mini Copperhead

The AG Russell Pinched Peanut has soft pulls, much like most of AG Russell knives.

I like the CASE Mini Copperhead as well.

Here's Böker Germany Penknife, very nice compact single spring 2 blades.

Why not consider a CASE Swayback Jack? Pretty, well finished and it comes in various handle options, there's also a single-blade variant.

#6 Pemberton should have received much more attention than it did. In my opinion, it's one of the best knives GEC put out. Ever. It's 1/8" shorter than a Peanut, but wider so it's easier to handle. The only downside is that some were a bit stiff. Easily remedied.

I'm glad someone brought that up! Thank you, Neal.

Howold is your grandpa? Be very careful because many times the over 65 to 70 bracket has some issues with arthritis. I now I can't deal with small stiffly sprung slip joints anymore. Make sure you are not giving him anything with a stronger glad pull than a regular SAK.

What is he carrying now? Let that be a definite guide to what his taste is. If he's carrying a peanut, then it may not just be the size, but the weight. Some of the GEC peanut size entries are on the heavy side, and more bulky than a peanut, and are stiffly sprung. You may have to use a jewelers file on the blade tang to lighten it up, whatever you buy.

He is still in fairly good condition without many aches and pains especially for turning 82 rather soon.
Still plays golf 5-6 days a week, averaging -5... With no signs of arthritis showing as we speak.

Thankful isn't enough to describe it.

As far as his daily carry is a Case Peanut. Though he isn't a tiny guy, I know he does like how the peanut disappears.
Due to this I have been looking at half congresses, white owls, half conductors, and other smaller patterns, and I still am up in the air.

I will still a put an EO notch in whatever I buy, but that depends on th pattern, and how the blade(s) lay.
There are Too many choices, and my being slightly informed only makes it that much more difficult...

One of the new #13's or this Dog Paw Conductor. They are both longer than a peanut but easy to handle and maybe a little more elegant as a Grandfather deserves.

I've got something on the way that might fit the bill as well:

Winchester Black Box Mini Gunstock, 3" closed. Might be like a kind of GEC 25, let's see....

I was able to grab a small Laguiole on the exchange for cheap, so I had to.

Now that doesn't mean I am not considering those listed in this thread. It is just now that I am going to be gifting two knives. :D
2 1/8" blade
3 5/8" (estimated) handle
Rams horn slabs with signature bee and some light carving on the spring.

The blade was rapping the inside of the backspring, so I took a small piece of cork and wedged it between the liners to act as a cushion and keep the edge from rolling.

I'd like to echo the swayback jack/gent and the GEC #14. They both always seem to find their way into my pocket.
