I second the ZT0230 - it is light-weight, has a higher-end steel and is not noticeable in your pocket, even in athletic shorts.

I third this - it weighs about nothing and is what I carry when I’m wearing gym shorts.

Most of the time when I'm out running errands in the Summer I am wearing basketball shorts and I need a knife I can carry easily in my pocket. I don't know if you've ever tried to clip a knife to basketball shorts, but it is not a pleasant experience.

I guess I don't see the problem. I wear basketball shorts all the time. Ran errands all day today with a knife clipped to my pocket no problem. I mean, between my phone, wallet, and keys, the knife was the least noticeable. Now, I have even been known to play basketball in basketball shorts, as well as other types of exercise including but not limited to running, weight lifting, pickle ball, soccer, swimming, and bicycling. When engaging in exercise, and sometimes even just running errands or lounging, I carry IWB right rear hip which requires a clip. That is an even less noticeable way to carry when wearing gym shorts. So yeah, I've got a ton of experience doing what you claim, and I don't see what problem you could possibly be running in to. I guess it is personal preference. Maybe give it another try. And no, in 99% of cases, removing a pocket clip will not void a warranty, so nearly all modern clip knives can be made clipless.

I used to carry a sodbuster Jr but I switched to an Artisan Cutlery Biome because I wanted a sharper tip. I love it, its super light, perfect size and cuts like a razor. I carry mine in basketball shorts a few times a week. Perfect for what you need.
