Modern Sgian Dubh knife- classic Scottish "boot knife" done to a practical modern design.

OAL: 8 1/2 inches.
Blade: 4 inches.

1080 steel, full quenched and differentially tempered. 1/8 inch thick, with a lightly convexed scandi main bevel and a stropped microbevel. Filework down the spine (photos don't show it well).

Handle is coyote brown linen micarta with grey spacers. Pins are 316 stainless tubing. (yes, this will go well in uniform as well as utilikilted)

As usual, two sheaths are included. The larger sheath has a strap retention and horizontal mounting straps. Will take MOLLE clips or mount for horizontal carry as well as regular belt carry with the standard, adjustable, belt hanger.

The smaller sheath is a classic sock sheath. I use one in my personal sgian dubh for boot carry without any issues.

Both sheaths Koyote Girl made. Fully formed, hand stitched.

SOLD Asking $185,

thanks!
Christof

Christof, is the blade shape the Traditional one ? i.e., not a dagger. sharpened on both edges ?
thanks, roland

This one is fileworked all along the spine and single edged. I do both styles, but the single edge is nice to carry for edc or use based carry

Surprised this is still here.

This is a seriously sweet Sgian, nice work Koyote. Can you tell me what size belts will work with the horizontal carry option?

*** fair warning y'all: I'm starting to circle in on this gem. Speak up if you are interested. I already have Sgian Dubh on order with Christof, but can you ever have too many Sgian Dubhs? (And Leif needs to go to college some day) :) ***

This one is a bit narrow for horizontal carry. I can get a 1.5 inch leather belt through the top strap, but for the bottom, it's a bit narrower. I was thinking of 1 inch webbing or clips on this one.

Always easy to modify ;) - and there's a few people who have mentioned a willingness to do kydex for these.

If it was only black micarta I think I would have bought it already. Good thing it's brown, because I lack self-control.

Christof should probably explain, but here are my thoughts:

1) With an icepick grip, three fingers fit in the depression and locks the knife in the hand.

2) The swell fills palm in a saber grip making the grip more secure.

3) It's a great indexing feature.

4) It just looks cool.

pretty much right on all points. regarding 2- the angle also helps grba the palm heel a bit.

And 4- it's traditional to have an angled butt decoration. I've really heavily changed the angle, but kept the idea of traditional shape a bit.
