So WE put a picture of this prototype slipjoint on their IG four days ago (scheduled to release in December) . I have been interested in getting a slipjoint with a supersteel blade, but I haven't see any yet. However, someone commented that several companies have been making modern slipjoints? Anyone know of any being made with super steel? Maybe I'm just oblivious.

Hinderer is making one in M390 which is one hand opening and very modern in materials and style.
Lionsteel also has a model with M390, too.
Three Rivers has a few knives like the Viator which is well regarded and uses CPM154.
And Chris Reeve just released at Bladeshow their slipjoint which has their standard s35vn steel. I don't know if that qualifies, but it's still good stuff.

Thanks guys. I don't know why I can't get any photo hosting sites to work on here, but I should have added that I'm most interested in a traditional (ex. Case) look. That Lionsteel looks good, and that J. E. Made does look like a nice knife as well!

Thanks for the pics of the JE Made!

I just ordered one yesterday and you guys are making me feel like a real genius for pulling the trigger on it!

Which one did you get?
Jigged titanium, no bolster (New York Special). Actually the last kind DLT had in stock, haha.

I pretty much spent all day yesterday trying to make up my mind. Couldn't find anything negative said about the brand whatsoever, and was seeing a bunch of members posting positive things.

Stoked to be getting one!

I only have experience with the LionSteel Roundheads, the Cold Steel Lucky, and a couple of the Case/Bose patterns. The Cold Steel Lucky isn't quite as nice as the others but it's a good knife for the money.

I've been liking the Viper EZ Open Teardrops form CollectorKnives quite a bit, at least from a chicken-eyeing and coon-fingering standpoint. Haven't really put them to much in the way of work.

This is whats in my pocket at the moment, Manly Wasp and lion steel shuffler.
Both are slipjoints but I had to remove the clip and fill in the space on the Wasp.

For traditional looking knives, look at the Lionsteel roundhead line or Viper EZ Open teardrop from Collectorknives. Both have M390 blades. For less traditional looking, as mentioned above, you can still find the Spyderco Urban with K390 blade. And the Spyderco Pingo with Elmax blade is also easy to find.

Many of the custom makers selling on BF are using modern steels(though maybe not todays latest and greatest). If interested you should check them out in the exchange. They are doing some excellent work.

Viper Dan - N690Cn
Kizer Vagnino Zip Slip - S35VN
Boker (a bunch of them) - various steels
Hinderer XM Slippie - CPM 20CV
Benchmade Proper - S30V
Spyderco UKPK - various steels, including S110V
Spyderco Urban, DPK, Squeek, PITS, others - various steels
SOG Terminus - CTS BD1
Fallkniven - laminated Super Gold
Enzo (various) - S30V
Spartan Blades Nymph - S35VN
Cold Steel Lucky - S35VN
Three Rivers Mfg. Atlas - S35VN
Lionsteel barlows - M390
Chris Reeve whateveritscalled - S35VN

Some of these have clips, some don't, some are slipoints with backsprings, some use detents in liners. You can also find a bunch of higonokami/friction folder types with modern construction and materials, some being actual friction folders and some having detents (all with extended tangs). Boker, Katsu, etc.

Here's a thread about the latest offering from collectorknives' work with lionsteel, the dom. I'm a big fan. I also have the spyderco k390 urban, I have been carrying both since getting the dom. Urban for dirty stuff (I cut a lot of tape) and the barlow for food and such. It's replaced my GEC moose for the time being, especially until the summer humidity calms down a little in MI.
