This line of vintage cutlery came back to the surface in a warranty thread. Here is a Moderne brochure for your amusement. I even have a piece or two of the carvers I can dig out. Functional cutlery. I haven't used it yet so no review. Some of you might have some as well.

During what time frame where these produced/offered? Since the paperwork has the El Cajon address I presume it was some time prior to 2005.

Buck moved into the El Cajon plant in 80 or 81. I don't know what year this model was offered. DM

This trademark came up on a patent search: "On Monday, July 15, 1985, a U.S. federal trademark registration was filed for MODERNE by BUCK KNIVES, INC., EL CAJON 92022." This cutlery comes up on the forum every so often but never sticks in my mind. I bet someone has a collection but isn't posting or reading today. So many enthusiasts keep clear of the forum for various reasons. A shame as it keeps hidden the wonderful world of legacy knives of all sorts.

This needs to get posted on BCCI or where ever the history of Buck is to be found.

I actually love the handles on these knives. No need to worry about slipping and getting cut.

Good research Oregon. Yep, wish we had access to the history of these knives somewhere. DM

I thought that this was where the history of Buck was to be found. Really. Not kidding.

I like that size slicer. I'm thinking the steel on those knives is 425M. Thanks for posting us this photo of your model. DM

DocT: Go ahead and laugh but how about this: Buck history on decks of cards! Each one of us puts a photo one side and facts on the other for one knife. Do this for every ding dang knife from start to finish/present. BCCI/Buck sells them. History in your hip pocket.

Desert Dave: That Moderne item is not mine. BTW, did you get my email from the other day about your next show?

It was in the topic; 'Official Weather Measurment'. You ask the date question in post #19 and I answered it in post 20. DM

Thank you DSS for posting the cream de la cream of the large Moderne carvers. I don't want to pry and this is a rhetorical question only but do you have every Buck knife ever made? :)

Almost, still looking for a blue 757..... :D

@#$%^ do you really think that I have the only one? I look for one every so often with the intent of making you a gift should I find one but no joy so far. I keep it hidden. I keep it safe.
