Moderne Line of Cutlery From Buck, Vintage

My daughter has that hatchet with a gray colored handle. Through what years were the Moderne knives offered? DM

I've never seen one of the hatchets with a gray handle David. Another for me to look for.....

Between 1985 and 1993 is the best date bracket I can come up with for the Kraton handled Moderne cutlery.

(repost) On July 15, 1985, a U.S. federal trademark registration was filed for MODERNE by Buck Knives. The trademark registration was cancelled by 1993.

well someone in this thread with a little prodding, looks like I have a carving/fork set on its way. There was someone on an auction site selling a set of 3 214 utility knives as well if someone wants to start there Moderne collection.

I got my mother the Modernes in the late 80's or early 90's. I cannot remember, exactly. Sadly, I only have a couple from the set. Someone else must have the knives. They were great because my mother was the type who would never have a sharp knife for fear of being cut if her hand slipped. The Moderne series took away that worry. Now, my wife uses them for the same reason.

Thanks for the info. Sky. Her hatchet came in the 'Buck Field Set.' They were offered in 2004. DM

Two sets in my hands and no gray camp axes. Both axes are black as coal. I've eye balled some other sets online but don't remember seeing a gray axe. Here is a pic of both of my Buck Camp And Field Sets (also, the axes are being faked now, out of china, send me email and I will ping you back with a link, Dave your bladeforum email does not seem to be working):

Thank you kindly Desert Dave. You are all right.

OFF TOPIC: The camp axes are being faked, this one being sold out of china, on the bay with box and paperwork, date stamp looks like 2010 to my sore eyes (vendor and site name removed by me with paint, but for those of you that follow the stock market the site recently did an Initial Public Offering in this country I.P.O. and raised millions on wall street in order to do this on main street, somebody and his forty thieves goes the name):

This is an interesting thread discussion. After getting the Empress Trio set, now it seems I need to be on the lookout for a Moderne set.

No email received. I'll send you one.

I am going to make a ruling: Bladeforum email is not working for me. I have received no email from you and you have received no email from me.

Cope me if you would please.

I sent you an email before I sent Doct's. Bladeforum email is not working for us either. This has happened with ITE and myself before.

Joe Houser will not publicly disclose the points of fake/counterfeit/knockoff. I won't undermine him/Buck by doing so publicly. I will discuss to some degree on private email with those I know. However, you can search and find this seller using these key words: High quality hand tools buck 757 Survival Axe utility Mountain Axe/Camping Axe

Also, BCCI members who know my name have access to my private email address and I embrace email contact from other members as usual.

I've examined my BF account settings and forum trouble shooting faq with no joy. My apologies. I do not intend to make communication so tedious. I cannot determine why BF email isn't working for me........
