Modest suggestion for a new knife..

Was wondering if Spyderco had ever considered making a knife with a sheeps foot blade constructed along the same lines as the Manix? I have been looking for a solidly constructed sheeps foot bladed knife for a while, all the ones I have seen have too much of a point and are usally serrated. Some of the rigging knives come close but none have the pocket clip and solid contruction of a Spyderco.
I should add that I am looking for something in the S30V line with the G10 scales, that seems to be my consistant favorite. And with the four postion clip.

I recently bought a D'Allara Rescue. It is serrated, but I have to say it's one solidly built knife. It seems really uncompromising in it's design as a solid cutter for emergency situations where there's movement under foot, or cutting needs to be done around people. I think Spyderco outdid themselves in the design here, and really did honor the memory of the knife's namesake. The sculpted grip is fantastic. The attention to detail on this knife is superb, and it's a superb value IMHO. I suppose you could smooth out the serrations a bit if you didn't like them so aggresive. There's also enough meat to the blade to reprofile the tip if you wanted to do that. I bought this on impulse, but I must say it's become a real favorite. The one I have, I think, is an earlier model with a 3.5" blade. I believe they've made a few changes, but these are still available. In fact, I'm tempted to buy a second one as I like it so much! It uses the ballbearing lock, not a back lock like the Manix. It's really smooth and locks up real tight. I'd take a look at it–it may do what you want, at least with a little modification.

There are many knives out there that are ALMOST right that I could modify, but if I am going to spend a largish bit of money I don't want to buy ALMOST right or have to grind down a blade. But thanks for the suggestions.

OK Skunked, now you've started it ;)

What would your "ideal" be?

Humm,
I think what I would really like would be something along these lines,
G10 handle, Ti liners would be nice but would likely bring the price up too much, 4 position clip( very important as I won't buy a knife that I can't carry tip up), lanyard hole, back lock, I seem to like the steels like 154cpm, ats32 and cpm-s30v. The blade should be 3-3.5in along the lines of a traditonal rigging knife, sheeps foot with a very small bit of belly, maybe with slighty more of a point than a classic sheeps foot, I would almost say something like a cross between a wharncliff and a sheeps foot would be ideal, the warncliff has too much of point for me. I am thinking not so much of a rescue style, more of a rigging knife built the Spyderco way.And definitly offered with a plain edge. I think the same pattern would work for a rigging knife and a rescue, they are really not that different. I would say that something like the Centofante IV built like the Manix would be great.
Hope this is not to vague!
Thanks

I like skunked's ideas, except for the blade profile, keep the more traditional sheepsfoot blade. Anytime you get too "pointy" the idea of using the blade around people for their safety goes out the window.

Keep the G10, and the ats32, but make the handle profile somewhere between the standard rescue and the D'Allara. Add a Boye dent, and make the clip stand up to daily use without looking worn after two days (stainless?). NO choil, longer grip length that way, easier to use gloved or wet.

Put me down for two. Of each blade type.

thanks,

I'll buy one.

I've got a soft spot for rescue style knives for some reason... I was actually thinking of starting a collection of rescue specific knives someday. :)
