Listed now on an auction site , as "modified " .

Cold Steel Spartan with a big notch or chip right out of the sweet spot of the blade .

I can't think of any good reason to do this , unless this is just a way to pass off a damaged blade as modified ?

Pretty much all mods reduce value. Just because you paid $250 for anodizing, sculped g10 and an acid washed blade, doesn't mean that cost transfers to me. You pretty much lose 80% of your potential buyers anyway when modding knives out.

Well, on the bright side, if it's cheap enough someone might buy it for spare parts (other than the blade of course).

After all, good luck getting spare parts or warranty service from GSM/Cold Steel these days.

If I owned that model, I'd be checking the price. Though I'd have to be confident it wasn't a counterfeit.

The only mods I can think of that actually increase the value of a production knife is the work of well respected SAK modders.

Yes , apparently getting any replacement parts from the new owners is impossible .

Even a pocket clip or thumb plate .

So ...just sell your damaged Cold Steel for parts , not "modified" .
