"Modifications" that reduce value .

Usually modding a knife is like painting a car or putting chrome rims on… you pay for the change (without seeing a return of the money) and you likely shrink the interested market significantly. I never was able to sell an anodized (professionally) knife or even scale swaps with titanium or cf for anything more than maybe 50% of the added cost. I have always lost the extra money. If you plan to ever sell it, best to leave it alone I’ve found.

Edit: Typo

Exactly this. Used to hear this from a guy that did car work. When you "customize" something thats great (for you) but its right in the word...its custom to the purchasers preferences. You might like a hot pink candy cane style Harley but good luck finding another person in your area that will buy it off you..

Listed now on an auction site , as "modified " .

Cold Steel Spartan with a big notch or chip right out of the sweet spot of the blade .

I can't think of any good reason to do this , unless this is just a way to pass off a damaged blade as modified ?

Is that the "Wave Mod" I keep hearing about?

Well, this Cold Steel knife originally cost me $60, with shipping. I think I could get considerably more than that out of it now that I've "modified" it. ;)

I would also pay considerably more for a knife engraved by WValtakis. I don't know if he considers his work "mods" or "customization", but his work is nothing less than true art, and I'd pay a premium for it.

Well, the knife has in fact been modified.

Behold! the last honest *b@y seller?

Those auto Ti-lite builds are most impressive, always love seeing them 👊😎

I believe we need a poll for this one. Vote for the BF member who modded this.

I know I didn't do it. My work wouldn't be that clean or professional looking. Hmmmmmmm ....
