Modified 12" Sirupati

Thanks for the kind words, Jerry. Jack of all trades, master of none -- that's me.

Guilty as charged, Bill. Here's a thumbnail of one of the pictures I took of the leather AK Bowie sheath:

There are other pictures in the photo album I created for that project. My review of the AK Bowie and some notes on the construction of the sheath are in this thread from the archives.

To illustrate why I don't take on projects for others, I made the AK Bowie sheath back in June of last year and sent it along to Bill as one of the samples he would forward to the sarkis. I still haven't made one for myself.

Bill, if the sarkis can still find it and haven't ripped it apart, I'd be happy to buy it back.

Brian, I think that sheath went and came and has a new home somewhere. It had some hardware on it that made the sarkis nervous. They opted for the Terry Sisco design because it was something they were familiar with and had no special hardware.

Like most of us, the sarkis seem to take the easy way out.

Thanks for great pix.

No problem, Bill. It was just a passing thought. I'm real happy that it found a new home doing what it was designed to do.

hey all, as a lot you know, I just purchased a 20" chiru siru from Uncle Bill, and I was interested in making a concealex sheath for it. I was just wondering if there are any FAQ's or any guides to working with this plastic that would be helpful to me. Thanks all for your time.

Charels, try a few keyword searches in the Shop Talk Forum & Shop Talk Archive here on BF. There are quite a few threads with links to a bunch of info on the topic of making Concealex/Kydex sheaths.

Since khukuris are so thick, make sure that you leave an ample border of material when cutting the plastic. I learned this one the hard way.

Good luck with your project. Please let us know how it turns out.
