It seems that with the Busse Custom Shop closing its books for over a year those of us that love our INFI (or SR101) knives but want them a little bit different for the sake of aesthetics, or for a more function based reason have been forced to turn to aftermarket modders, or grab a dust mask and your weapon of choice and get busy with the belt grinder or files.

So out of all of the Bussekin knives that left Wauseon in stock form, and either through a return back to the shop, or a trip to a modder, or especially if it was done at home, this is for all of Jerry's modified misfit children.

I'll kick this off with one of mine, and I'll add more as the thread goes on.

First up, my BB ASHBM. This came to me as a BIG finish ASHBM, and although I like the ASHBM in its stock configuration I felt there was room for some small improvements. I wanted to bring the balance rearward a little bit, to give it a more neutral feel in my hand.

So I pulled the scales, melted some antimony and cast it into the four holes in the tang. I also ground a blind bird beak into the pommel, because who doesn't think the BB looks cool? I had to take a little but of material off the inside of the grip near the talon hole as well to make the beak look more symmetrical.

Then on the top of the handle towards the ricasso, there is a sort of hump there, that on the old SHBMs is a small dip. So I ground a little bit out there to mimic the feel of the old SHBM better. After making new scales out of black canvas micarta, I installed them using some copper tube.

Looks very nice, I especially like the copper! This thread may inspire me to do some modding...

Thanks for the compliments gentlemen, I appreciate it.

But bring out some more mods! Let's see em!

All I've really done is mess with the finish on mine. First I got rid of the tanker gray and did a DCBB type finish, then one day I got bored and did a little polishing on it.

She started life as a orange and black g10 handle

And this one was a comp finish with black canvas

I mod a little bit.... Let's see

I switched these res-c handles, making them both the only ones I've ever seem with different color handles.

Mods to this include stripping and switching the g10

Stopped and polished out the double cut from this grail and then added the hand smoothed bruiser

This is my key lardo with special edition 2007 dark black and green g10

Who can forget the war boar with teak from a us battleship for scales.

Stripped this custom shop ash then added bruiser

This was my argonne after modification

This is my stripper dssf with home made bruiser

Switched these grips on the ams. Which required serious grinding

The bruiser from the tgdc came from this tglb. Here they are stripped and switched

Stripped this regulator, my first

This was my first a fat ash that I stripped and polished up. That is a fat game warden in the picture. Pretty decent reflection.

Nice job on the mods. Here is a boss jack LE that I regripped in local mountain mahogany and extended the grip some.

This is the only Busse I've modified myself (dropped the point and replaced the talon hole with a choil), although I'm thinking of a couple of others.

I think I was first person to have a clip point put on a Team Gemini, but that was done by Garth.

All these look great guys. I really enjoy taking something and making it my own, and it looks like I'm not alone.

Jared, your Zilla was one of the home mods that were big inspirations to me to finally start to mod my stuff myself.

For the sake of the thread it doesn't matter if the Custom Shop did the mods, as long as it left the factory different than the end result.

This amazing piece has been stripped and the edge has been revolutionized ;)

Anyone who has picked up a factory FFBM can tell you just how thick the shoulders behind the edge are on this mythical mistress. I consider this a mod when it takes that much work to optimize the edge and the shoulders behind it.

And this one is just a new beast now that it's been optimized ;)

Having had to sharpen an FFBM myself, I totally agree with you Rob! They're crazy thick!

My next contribution, is a NMFBM that started life as a black G10 on black CG made from an LE blank. I stripped, sort of satined it, thinned the shoulders down , and made new black canvas scales attached with brass tube. No major mods on this one, other than going from the factory mags to the slimmer scales I made.

GREAT thread T!! Be interesting to see the mods we each choose/prefer.

Butt mod, etched finish and swedge.
