Modified Case Sodbuster jr.

That is quite a modification you've got yourself there! It turned out well. I'm not sure it's for me, but it does look good. I do have to say, the more I look at it, the more appealing it is though. Congrats!

Also, as per the norm, there are some great looking knives in this thread!

The only mod I've done to a soddie is to soften the edges on the spine. For some reason, I've never liked the idea of getting cut by the 'safe' side of a knife blade. :D

I just wanted to take a sec to show off coyote711's handiwork on the sodbuster jr. that he gave away in this thread.

Here is a stock soddie jr.:

And here is the knife as modified by coyote711 (sorry for the lousy iPhone photo):

Case really ought to consider going with this blade profile, IMO. Anyway, thanks again for the great knife, coyote711!

Nice looking work for sure! :)

Great job on the regrind! I also think the Case version doesn't have enough point to it. I personally like the blade profile in Kerry Hampton's sodbuster interpretation called the "KHnutbuster".

This one made my mouth leak a little..! ;)

You're very welcome, Mark!

P.S. Hopefully on this thread we won't have people entering the giveaway, for your knife, two months after the fact! ;) (Thanks for closing the old one, Elliott ;))

Is it too late to get in on the giveaway?? :D

I'm surprised more folks don't put a lanyard hole in the handle. It's gotta be one of the easiest mods to do. Great work by the way guys. :)

That's some nice modification you did there looks a lot better I have a few might be trying it soon

Nice profile. I have thought for a long time that Case soddies should have more of a point. They are great slicers, but sometimes, you need a point!

Love that trapbuster, too, BTW.

If anyone can fix me up one like this, let me know.

Ive got an old Case Soddie that has a point, but its from use not anything planned. I do like it a lot, but it has a lot of vertical play. It's buried in the bag of knives to work on (I used it for cutting sod and it has a round edge now,) but I think I'll send it to someone to remove the play.

While I'm partial to the original blade profile, that was very nicely done. The point looks like a needle! I bet it's useful.

Very cool mod. And, the Knutbuster is a sweet looking cutter. I am partial to the original blade profile myself. I like it a lot, but it is refreshing to see other profiles on one of my favorite traditional patterns.

I consider myself a regular here, but rarely do I have anything useful/educational to add, as I do not have a lot of knowledge concerning traditionals. For this reason, I sometimes see myself still in the yard looking up at you guys on the porch. That's ok, I guess, at least you guys aren't telling me to get out of the yard. :D
