Thought I'd try something different .... here are the latest off the bench (I need to take better photos):

The first one's in Green Canvas Micarta w/ red liners:

The second is Tan Canvas Micarta w/ black liners:

Same blade and overall length as Bob's original dropped hunter, I just beefed them up a little ... 1/4" stock with a 1-1/4" wide (at the ricasso) blade. The green has a more traditional shape, the tan version has been modified with more belly, a thicker tip and a longer guard.

Mirror polished ATS-34 (heat treated to HRC 61) with all stainless fittings.

The guards have also been fitted "old school" style -soldered with 2 pins and a rounded ricasso.

Comments and suggestions are welcome. Thanks for looking.

(Next up are some "slim" versions ... 5/32" stock with a 7/8" wide blade :)).

Very nice, but IMO a "real" Loveless would have a much more tapered tang and a more contoured guard/handle. You are making excellent progress though. I like them a lot.

Oh yes!
They are first class. Especially the green one.
As for the comment about them not being the same as real Loveless knives, no offence, but it does say 'modified'! It also says LIN on the blade and not Loveless!;)
As I like making Loveless style knives myself, I get a little bit disheartened by comments like that. I think putting your own twist on the design is a good thing. The main point I try to get the same is the handle. When it's looking fairly similar to an original it feels great in the hand. I've never been lucky (or wealthy!) enough to handle a Loveless, but the feel of the general handle design seems to be perfect.
If the time comes when I can make a knife as good as these two I'll be one happy chap!
Nice one.

Marcus, they are both very very nice knives. Is the lower one the one that you was making for your Mom?

I sure do understand why everyone is asking the question about whether they are for sale. They really have the look, in my mind, of what most seem to want in a Loveless style.

They have the look of pure quality.

Really nice, clean work. I like what you have done with the blade shape. Not much I can add to what others who like your work have said.

You make Loveless style knives and have never handled a Loveless?

The whole idea of this gambit is that people can't get real Loveless knives and need a clone knife to fill the perceived gaps in their collection. That is why the "Loveless" market is hot right now and the "knives that kind of look like Loveless" market is not so hot. These knives are obviously well made and very nice looking. It is also clear that Mr. Lin is trying hard to make Loveless knives. He is getting close, IMO. That is an admirable task that very few have succeeded at.

I missed the part about the "modifed" and "beefed" up, I apologize Mr. Lin.

No, never even seen one in real life, let alone picked one up:(
I've studied a picture or two though!
My dream knife is either a Loveless or a Lovett drop point with green canvas Micarta. Just need to win the lottery first....
Mr Lin is indeed doing a fine job:thumbup:

Wow! Thank you all for your kind comments and constructive suggestions. :)

Unfortunately both are accounted for already. Please e-mail me if you would like me to make one.

Nope, she got the double-grind!
