Hello,
Just wanted to show off a recently completed project: making my Ontario Raider Bowie look more traditional. I stripped and sanded the blade, made a new handle of stabilized zebra bone (with 2-ton epoxy and a 1/8" brass pin), and purcahsed a leather sheath intended for a Case bowie. The blade still has countless small scratches, I will probably try to sand and buff it more in the future. The sheath is not a perfect fit, a little too snug but not bad for $9.95. I am completely happy with the handle although it took me many hours of work with drill and files to slot the handle out for the tang.
Thanks for looking,
Rhino

Now that's downright awesome work right there. I'm tempted to do something similar to make the SP10 look like the old W49 bowie.

Great job ! I have a Marine Rader Bowie waiting for some mods as well. Wish we could have a picture of the tang, Got one?

Given my impatient nature I did not take any pics in progress. The tang however was nice and substantial, 3/4" x 1/4" x 5" long with a 1/4" hole about 2" and 4 1/2" down. Blade, tang and guard appeared to have been coated with guard in place. Thanks for looking.

Thanks!

I'm pretty happy with it. Sharpened primary and false edges with my new Work sharp knife and tool sharpener... got it real sharp. Now I want the newer work sharp model...

Well done, man. I like my SP-10 just fine the way it is, but given a chance I sure wouldn't mind having a second one done up like yours.

Excellent. A real viable option for an affordable, US-made, carbon steel bowie if you have the time and resources. Great work!
