A Takobiki is from the yanagi family of sushi knives. This was one salvaged from a kitchen drawer. It was labeled "Hōcho" and "stainless japan". It is likely steel in the 420 stainless category. It had a round wood handle of some sort and a square nose. It is chisel ground.

I refitted it into a block of jade g10 and a black g10 guard. Handle is faceted throughout. Balance point is right at the forward finger choil. It has brass and stainless fasteners. Flats are acid stonewashed and bevel is 220 satin. Nose was ground into a sheepsfoot tip. There is a little spot of damaged g10 around one side of one of the fasteners. Blade is just shy of 6" and handle is 4.5

Knife is way more robust than it was with how I fastened it. It is a bit more than a half tang knife. This is by no means meant to be a professional sushi knife. I had fun seeing what I could make out of a forgotten piece of kitchen cutlery. If you want to carry this for other than kitchen tasks, I will gladly make you a kydex sheath for $20 extra.
