This is a modified, or semi-wharncliffe. It's really a small seax EDC, but the terms start to mean much the same thing as you get to the smaller blades.

Overall length is 9 inches.

Blade length is 4 5/8 inches, with a dropped edge and a very slight belly at the tip. Steel is 15N20 .095 (3/32) thick. This one has a full tapered convex grind, stropped all the way up. Blade is hand rubbed to 600 grit and then laid on the strop for final polishing.

The edge on this is finer than the normal field knife, and wipes hair and dermis quite well.

Handle is ipe, soaked with linseed oil and cured, with 3/16 stainless pins. Handle shape has a very subtle hourglass profile from the top, I didn't want to overdo it.

Sheath is a ranger style, right hand deep pouch.

Asking $200, SOLD

thanks for looking!

I took a spine shot- actually 6 of them, but the focus kept playing wonky. here's the least fuzzy of them:

I've been off and on with trying to do wharncliffe patterns. They are a radically different process from a lot of blades, and it takes some time to get the idea down in metal. I'm pretty happy with this one :)

That looks great. I love a Wharnie; this knife seems to capture the intent very well. Fabulous.

I'm waiting for arijer to ping back-

1 1/16 at the widest, with a fair narrowing profile.
